Hooleyfan 0 Posted January 3, 2009 Just back from the game and another great turn out for the Yellow Army...it was good to see Lupoli in the squad, but i wasn''t convinced that he''d get a game...particularly when Roeder changed Patty and Omozusi at half time. Our fans were getting on Roeder''s back once we went a goal down, with "Roeder Roeder, sort it out!" being chanted widely and loudly and continously for the remainder of the first half as well as ''Arturo Lupoli'' chants, particularly as he ran along the touch line keeping warm, applauding the attention every time. A massive cheer went up as he eventually came on and you should have seen his reaction when he scored...he ran all the way back up the field to us to celebrate, and I suspect thank us for undoubtedly putting the pressure on to bring him on. He went close two or three more times before the end of the game and Sibierski''s touch looked like he would put him on goal again and again. Shame we ran out of time, Lupoli should have been on from the start of the second half at least.
lucky green trainers 0 Posted January 3, 2009 sounds like it was worth the trip just to see lupes goal celebration...
grantroederdisaster 0 Posted January 3, 2009 Great turn out again. Amazing we can take so many to a plain old fixture against a team worse than us. That proves we are a big club! Just like Lupoli today proved how mental Roedernowhere has been to play a midfielder up front instead of him!
Hooleyfan 0 Posted January 3, 2009 The official crowd was about 12,600...absolutely shameful, but then Charlton really struggle with their fan base, relying on drawing people in from all over Kent.

Hooleyfan 0 Posted January 3, 2009 The population of Greenwich borough is not that affluent, but I do know that the Charlton work hard on their community involvement, but clearly still struggle. Although the community thing is a much longer term strategy to create a lasting fan base. If I lived in that part of London, I''d rather take the Woolwich Ferry and go the extra couple of miles to watch the Hammers...but if I lived further out into Kent, I think as I would have to into London anyway to see a reasonable team, better it was Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs...I really cant see what the attraction of Charlton would be. will c 0 Posted January 3, 2009 That area of London was once part of the old county of Kent, hence many people from Kent support Charlton.
