First Wazzock 1,014 Posted January 6, 2009 Does the magic of the cup exist anymore?Very poor gates. The bigger teams playing several reserve/youth players, against teams they consider to be beatable. The realisation that you have no chance of a real upset. Kathy 823 Posted January 6, 2009 Although the actual coverage and content of ITVs offerings on the cup are poor, I think the opening sequel is atmospheric and evocative and captures for me the spirit of the cup. Which probably explains why I was stupid enough to go to the Valley in sub zero temperatures along with 3000 other hardy souls on Saturday. The FA Cup still does it for me and this is why it annoys me when big clubs, TV companies and other clubs fans (Charlton for example) fail to treat it with respect.
I agree with Kathy. The magic of the cup remains safe and sound at our great club. We always have large crowds for the FA Cup. I stood in 42,000 at Carrow Road for my first ever game against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup. And then at my last game I was part of over 3000 away supporters again in the FA Cup.You wait ''til next week then Lol. And then compare us with Charlton both home and away. Will they match our 3,000+ away fans? Will we nearly double their 9,000 home fans? The magic of the FA Cup is alive and well at our club[Y]
Puzzy magnet 0 Posted January 6, 2009 We shall see. Of course Charlton are not in the same league as us when it comes to support, I just don''t expect a bumper crowd.
Shaun Tilly Lace 0 Posted January 6, 2009 The FA Cup must have lost its magic for most City fans in recent times. We always seem to end up with the least glamorous ties imaginable: such as Charlton away this year, with the stupendously mouth-watering prospect of facing either Leyton O or Sheff Utd if we somehow put Charlton out of their misery. We usually seem to mess up against the lowly teams as well. Why can it not be Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd or Liverpool at home for a pleasant change? Failing that, I''d settle for Spurs, Everton, Newcastle Utd, Sunderland or any Premiership side at home. No, Cup and magic are not two words that sit happily side by side, when you look at some of the grim fixtures we''ve been handed over the last ten years or so! That Chelsea fixture seems so long ago now (2001?), that it had clean slipped my mind whilst I was in full-on ranting mode. As you say, if you make sufficient progress in The Cup you meet the bigger, more glamorous teams anyway. Unfortunately with NCFC in its current lowly state, and the kind of muppets we''ve had as manager in recent times, you just know that isn''t going to happen. nutty nigel 7,902 Posted January 6, 2009 We actually played Chelsea in the 5th Round in 2007! You couldn''t make it up[:O] Well, you obviously could[:|]

Arthur Whittle 0 Posted January 6, 2009
The realisation that you have no chance of a real upset.
Well the semi-finalists last year were Pompey, Cardiff, West Brom and Barnsley so i think that shows anything can happen. Not a Manc, Scouser, Gooner or Chelski in sight!!!Also, Forest beat Man City, Southend drawing at Chelsea and Hartlepool {just for Jeff Stelling} were my top 3 favourite shocks of the weekend. pete_norw 0 Posted January 6, 2009 Well I think you are in for a shock there. Kids for £1, theres about 10.000 for you, and te other prices say a big turn out, I think around 21-23,000, loads at the ticket office yesterday and today with almost your figure allready sold. I think most people are wishing for a visit to London and not Sheffield,
