So the guy at Cheltenham Town -lets repeat that, Cheltenham Town- is worth £966 Million? And, of course, he''s pumping millions and millions of pounds into their playing budget isn''t he?(of course, maybe he soon will be!)But it tends to show that having someone immensly wealthy at the club doesn''t always mean that they are going to splash the cash!

A very good point but it''s one of the very few League Tables in which Colchester United are ahead of the Canaries.[:P]

Your comment is spot on however.

I think this shows just how commited Delia has been to our club, to plough money into it. I like almost everyone else wants to see new investment and fresh ideas. It just a shame most of the leadership and strategic decisions made by the board and directors over the past 10 years made at the club havent matched that qaulity of commitment, ultimately leaving us now needing new investment to buy our way out of trouble.

Just seen David Beckham in Asda, hopefully he will be buying us, and playing a sort of player/owner role in the club, with his 125mil fortune

I think our major-shareholder - might have been a little higher in the table.....but I noticed in a large city bookstore, that her latest cookery book publication (a reprint and re-issue from a couple of decades ago) is now being sold at half the price....Never mind, I suppose there''s alternative ways of boosting your income....

How the hell is Damien Duff in there? Got to be one of the worst premiership footballers, was ok at Blackburn, then the wheels came off. And there''s nothing on Wikipedia that suggests he''s made money from elsewhere, Just shows how mad this world really is. Doctors and surgeons who save many a life, get paid peanuts compared to these players, and all they do is train 4 days a week for a few hours a day and play 90 mins on a saturday

Exactly what I was thinking when I read that. 90,000 a week at Newcastle. Haha! That just shows how ridiculous player wages are nowadays ...

It''s supply and demand/  There are many more surgeons and doctors than there are Prem quality players. Also, the footballers window of opportunity is much smaller than a surgeon''s, so they''ve got to make it while they can.  The highest paid doctors make plenty of money, at least in my country. I find it much worse that lucky boobs who land a job on a TV show for God knows what reason make millions when they have no talent that 1000 other people who are also trying for the same job have. The chosen one makes a mint, the rest wait tables.

[/quote]That is very silly when you think about it, Giggs has been a great player, one of the best wingers ever (not the best, but not far off) but Ferguson must be paid more, he is a great manager, and has done so much for Man.u

What it does show is that there is relatively little connection between wealth of the owners/money and footballing success.

Or what proportion of their wealth the owners have put into their club.

If we are frsutrated with delia how must Blackpool, QPR, Citeh, Watford & Preston (Hemming seems to spend more on his horses!) be feeling?
