Roeders Selection Policy Revealed!!

Recommended Posts

I have been provided with a nugget of information by somebody "in the know", clearly, for obvious reasons I cannot reveal their identity.

Many on here berate GR for his selection policy, accusing him of having his favourites, but I have been given some information that blows these theories out of the water!!. Glen does not have his favourites at all, his selection policy is very simple.......

Glen has three plastic shopping bags (Glen is very green and likes to reuse or recycle where he can, he has been known to extend this to his post match comments), each platic bag is marked as follows "1) Defence", "2) Midfield" and "3) Attack. In each bag is a set of balls, each ball has a number on it, the numbers correspond to the outfield players squad numbers.

Glen then picks each player in order as follows - Defence: Left Back, Right Back, Centre Back, Centre Back. Midfield: Left Midfield, Right Midfield, Centre Midfield, Cente Midfield. Attack: Attacker 1, Attacker 2, he does this by putting his hand in the appropriate bag and pulling out a ball for each position.

Having been given this information, all became so very clear to me particularly given that I was also told that this operation doesn`t always go as smoothly as you would hope, for example Glen has been known to accidently pick 5 balls from the "Midfield Bag" or pick an attacker from the "Midfield Bag". He also been known to "lose" balls, for example somebody recently found the ball for Arturo Lupoli at the bottom of the hamper carrying the "1959 kit".

So having seen how Glen goes about selecting the matchday squad, I hope some of you who criticise him will now back off.

Thank goodness that somebody pointed out to Glen that GK is a specialised position, or goodness knows who would have ended up in goal!!.....

Excellent. Thanks for giving me a smile on another miserable afternoon (so far).

I presume that he operates a similar system for substitutions, albeit a much smaller bag is required which he can hide in his pocket. This would explain Bell coming on for Sibierski just now when surely Cort would have been the obvious choice. But anyway, we can be thankful that Nelson''s ball hasn''t come out of the subs bag yet when a striker is needed, but on the balance of probabilities it''s only a matter of time.....
