JUST BACK FROM GAME - PLAYER RATINGS

Recommended Posts

for all those interested here are my ratings from todays game

marshall 5/10 - didnt really have alot to do, kicking was ok, but came for every corner and got no way near the ball.

semmy 2/10 - absoulutely awfull, never once used his pace didnt overlap croft at all and was just non existent, never tackles what does he bring to the side? the answer is nothing.

Doc 6/10 - did ok won most of his areial battles. fails to oragnise the back four though which results in mayhem when were under pressure

grounds 6/10 - again played ok but think he failed to mark properly for their goal.

bertrand 1/10 - didnt do anything right all game. constantly hoofed to no one, look completely dis-interested, very lazy and compleltey un aware of his surroundings. worse player on the pitch by a mile

croft 4/10 - didnt know he was playing first half, second half made a couple of surging runs but never looked like he knew where he was running to.

fozzy 6/10 - as much as he is slated he did ok. passed the ball ok, just not in a forward direction. looked quite commited and worked hard but not a captain.

clingan 4/10 this must have been his poorest performance for city. quite a few misplaced passes and his distribution was predictable and poor. mis controlled the ball lots aswell. very unlike himself today

hoolahan 7/10 the only player to try and make things happen. i really like hoolahan and cant believe the amount of stick he comes in when mis placing a pass, his passing was good today and he set up most of our attacks. tries to take free kicks quicky which is annoying because no one else is on the same wave length. MOM

lupoli 5/10 - struggled against sheff utd back four, but had a couple of decent chances saved and put a late header wide. tried hard though and was commited.

sibierski 3/10 - slow, dis-interested and rubbish. i think lupoli won more headers. got strecthered of in the second half.

bell - 6/10 - looked good when he came on, some nice touches and a couple of decent crosses

summary - this was an absoulutley diabolical performance bar fozzy hoolahan and the doc nobody out there today really seemed to bothered about our plight and showed very little commitment. we played with no fullbacks, semmy and bertrand both picked the same day to half their worst career performances. this is completely unacceptable and there is no question this team will be relegated unless somthing is done. paddy kenny had one of the easiest days he will ever get. as for roeder how can sombody decide to bring on a midfielder for an attacker when you are 1 nil down with 20 left? he left lupoli playing upfront on his own against morgan and killgallon, they didnt need to jump to win the headers. he left carl cort on the bench for the entire 90! this is absoulutley crazy, if he is not fit then he should not even be on the bench. what a waste of wages

the leadership issue has never been more apparent then today. there was no captain out there every single player appeared to play for themselves and not as a team. this was backed up by the fact that when sibs got injured ( looked nasty and had to be strecthered ) not one single norwich player when to see if he was ok, they just stood 30 yards away staring at nothing, they didnt have an once of concern. if ever you needed proof that the team is not united then that was it.

i am at a complete loss at the moment wrt supporting city, we are going to get relegated and nobody at the club seems bothered so i dont even know why i should i dont even feel a change of manager is going to save us now. also why do all the fans only sing roeder out as they leave the ground? it needs to be heard during the 90 mins.

sorry about the long summary but ive got alot to get out!

Not sure how you came up with them ratings, I agree semmy and bertrand were bad. But Doc was a lot better than grounds, who missed a lot of headers early on. marshall made a world class save and couldnt do anything for the goal. clingan was mainly helping out the defense with fotheringham. For a player to get a 1/10 they have to sit on the floor and do nothing

Sounds like  a very depressing day and your appraisal is more negative than what came over on the radio. I cant believe the Cort situation either, if he`s not fit thats it, he shouldnt be  wasting a seat on the bench. Sounded as if Marshall pulled off a good double save?

Every week I keep seeing the same comments about Marshall and at home games I see it for myself. Excuse me if I''ve got it wrong but don''t we have a goalkeeping coach? What the effing heck exactly does he do all week as the negative aspects of Marshy''s game just don''t seem to get any better. Isn''t that what the goalkeeping coach should be sorting out?

ive had enough of being tolerant and accepting mediorce performances! it was awfull! marshall to be fair did make a couple of decent saves, but his inabillity to command his area lets him down big time

Sibierski was absolutley awful today. Im not ashamed to say it but I was actually relieved to see him stretchered off today! Tell me what he did to justify a 3? He didnt win a single header, he didnt make any runs, he barely completed a pass, he didnt track back!! 0 for me. Lupoli was by far our best player today. His speed caused Sheffield problems throughout. His passing was spot on. He was even winning headers!!

And Fotheringham: a 6!! You must be joking. He didnt create anything for the team yet again.

I was at the game today and didn''t think we played particularly badly but the same old problem was that we did precious little in the final third of the pitch. Quite why Carl Cort didn''t get at least some sort of outing in the second half is a complete mystery. We were crying out for someone big up front but the manager decided that he would move Doherty up alongside Lupoli after the totally ineffective Sibierski was stretchered off. In the end it somehow almost paid off as Kenny had to make a scrambling save from a Doherty effort and Lupoli''s header shaved the post. An earlier change might have made a difference but at least Lupoli played the full 90 minutes although but had Russell been available I doubt whether he would have started.

It was frustrating in that in my - probably biased - view we should have had a point here. Sheff Utd looked nothing special and didn''t have as many chances as a home side might normally expect against this present Norwich team. What with all the fall-out from the James Beattie transfer saga rumbling round Bramall Lane the Blades looked decidedly edgy towards the end and we should have made that count but, once again, City failed to produce the goods.

We were extremely fortunate to beat the Blades at Carrow Road earlier in the season and what goes round comes round but with nine defeats in the last ten  away League games we really must start picking up some points on the road as we''re not going to pick up enough points at home to survive in this League.

I''ve a horrible feeling some of us will be programming a lot of strange addresses into our sat-navs next season....

Semmy and Plastic awful. The Doc tried hard but I wouldn''t want to be a keeper playing behind him. I''d be a nervous wreck and that''s what Marshall looks like sometimes.

Lupoli worked really hard. When Bell came on he showed his class.

Fozzy? Sorry don''t rate him. Surprisingly made a couple of forward passes today. Captain he aint and keeps someone (anyone I don''t care) out of the team.

We worry about trying to score goals but our defence regularly let in soft goals. Surely both our very poor fullbacks were at fault this time - Semmy skinned and plastic failing to pick up at the far post.

Good turn out by supporters but little to shout about until the last 15 minutes.

Get Roeder out for f... sake

The lack of passion, team spirit, determination and commitment is down to the Manager and no-one else. We have an individual who is sadly lacking all the qualities required to be a successful football manager. I must have blinked and missed his tenure of anything remotely useful. Unfortunately, the Board (including our highly paid Chief Executive) have failed again with this appointment. I urge them to do something before it is too late.

Pretty much completely agree. Fozzy wasn''t bad and put in a few decent corners and crosses. Toothless up front was the real problem. Pretty toothless all round really, but there was commitment and effort, just not really the fifth gear. It felt like a training match, little flicks, triangles, nice but rarely a real desire to make the second ball yellow and hurt them. Deserved a point though IMO and also the opinion of some Utd supporters who seemed to think they were lucky to win. Different perspectives ey.

On another note, I was fairly appalled by the behaviour of a gang of blokes (old enough to know better) who were threatening another City supporter with his two little kids after he told them to ease off on the 4-letter words and spent the entire match slagging Fozzy. I don''t personally mind the swearing but the threats were out of order, especially in a very mixed area, ie. young, old, couples etc
Radio Norfolk made it sound like we battered them second half... this all sounds very different!
Radio Norfolk are in a better position to see the game properly, in my opinion, and the evidence is there by the fact that the commentators saw the ball in this game hit the post a couple of times, but some supporters that were there missed those key events,  I have watched hundreds of games from behind a goal, but since I took a seat high in a stand and can see the whole pitch I enjoy the game much more, as I can see both ends of the pitch and thus the action much clearer.  I would never go back to watching a game from behind a goal or at the same level as the players.

Radio commentators also have to concentrate throughout the game whereas a supporter inevitably loses concentration at various points during the game due to distractions. Therefore, I place more credence on the reporters opinions.

I urge the board to clear off before we need to appoint another manager, we''d have more chance of getting a good manager by drawing names from a hat than if they were to pick someone

Was at the match, a very good point.

I think a guy near me summed it up,

''If you''d have started playing at 3 instead of 20 to 5 we''d be flippin alright''

Defence looked nervous, midfield clueless & in attack - well sibs is all i need to say.

didn''t agree with the boo''s & roeder out chants at the end - i think a stone cold silence would have been more effective. Although we did clap back one or two of the players who came over and applauded us - i think it was hoolahoop (not a bad game, ran the most with lups), lupoli & clinghan. every other bugger naffed off.
