How does GRs'' performance sit against those of our previous managers ?  Here is a list of win percentages for every manager since John Bond, as supplied by wikipedia and monkeyed about by me.

Win percentages from John Bond - Now

46.2 Martin O''Neill (Aug - Dec 1995)
.....P26 W12 D9 L5
40.9 Ken Brown (Nov 80 - Nov 87)
.....P367 W150 D93 L124
40.7 Nigel Worthington (Dec 00 - Oct 06)
.....P280 W114 D104 L62
38.9 Dave Stringer (Nov 87 - May 92)
.....P229 W89 D58 L82
38.5 Mike Walker (Jun 93 - Jan 94, Jun 96 - Apr 98)
.....P179 W69 D46 L64
36.2 Peter Grant (Oct 06 - Oct 07)
.....P47 W17 D11 L19
34.5 John Bond (Nov 73 - Oct 80)
.....P340 W105 D114 L121

.....P35 W10 D10 L15
22.4 John Deehan (Apr 95 - Jul 95)
.....P58 W13 D22 L23

The only manager less successful at winning games than GR who had more time in the post was Bruce Rioch, he had 19 months and 93 games.  Rioch also drew significantly more games, giving him a better points per game record if you assume 3 points for a win.

1.76 Martin O Neill - 26 games
1.59 Nigel Worthington - 280 games
1.48 Ken Brown - 367 games

ties in nicely with our league position.  No Gary Megson?

When looking at Worthington would like to see Ron Saunders record in comparison as both go the club promoted and relegated.

I know people slated him but it just shows what a good job worthy done with his time here, to be second to martin o''neill is no mean feat...particulary when he took us over with the squad he had

Oops, must have missed Megson - he would be at the bottom of the list.

Absolutely Zipper, immenently forgettable, and yet somehow a Premiership manager now.  He must have learnt something [:)]

These figures are really interesting, especially when you consider Roeder''s first 15 or so games in charge pulled in loads of points. His record since then must be diabolical (Obviously only a point a game this season - worse if you include cup games and a less that 30% win ratio)Conversely, Worthington''s last season and a half were poor, so what must his record have been like before that?

Worthington our sugar and spice manager - when he was good he was very very good,   but when he was bad  he was horrid...

We need to learn from that - a stable squad where the players knew their roles and were better than their ability in that team.  Compare that to the rapid squad and manager rotation since we got not relegated but promoted.  Do we have enough time to make that work again?

Its nopt about money,  its about team work.

Roeder has only been in the job a year but is half way on the way to ''achieving'' as many defeats in that tenure as Worthy did in 6 years.
