The New Formaton, 2-6-2

That seems to be the tactics of late, especially at home.Bertrand and Otsemobor seem to have been told you have a licence to get forward gung ho with no thought to defending. This results in Doc and Omozusi/Whoever overrun whenever were hit on the break. Bell never tracks back, Pattison''s defensive contribution isnt enough for a midfielder. Croft does his bit, as does Clingan but for the most part we find its really only Doherty doing the lions share of defending. Yesterday was a prime example. There was even one point late in the 2nd half when 2 forest players had the ball in the right back area. Russell and Otsemobor were there, but it took Croft tracking all the way back, going past Russell and Semmy, and putting the tackle in to finally get the ball clear. When your leaking goals like mad, which we are, 2''s and 3''s every flippin game, youd think the tactics, whether were home or away would be to try and keep it tight and start with a clean sheet. We dont score many goals as it is so surely the tactics should be a clean sheet no matter what and hope nick a goal.Yes i know where at home, but were also scrapping around at the bottom desperate for results. So for me you start with 1 point and then try for 3. You dont go all out for 3 right from the off.The tactics seem to be gung ho all the time, and time and time again we get hit on the break 2 or 3 times, its panic stations, mistakes are made, and we find ourselves 2 or 3 goals down and its game over. We go 1 down, so we push forward even more trying to get an equaliser, and what happens, were hit on the break again and its 0-2. Then its 3-1 etc..This is the running theme in every match, home or away. Most matches seem to go the same. Whoever we play were not at all outplayed, the opposition dont seem to domintate us and have 15 shots on target. Rather they catch us out in the way ive explained above and nick 2 or 3 goals and win the match. Watford away springs to mind as a classic example. And Forest at home yesterday was an even bigger one. We seem to look the better side in every single game but were beat time and time again by sloppy defending and mistakes brought on by being hit on the counter attack and finding ourselves with just Doherty and Omozusi to face the counter. Counter Attack, panic, mistake, goal. Counter Attack, panic, mistake, goal. Norwich 0-2 Oppostion Utd. Game over. Its a recurring nightmare and it needs to be addressed and stopped. The tactics must change. I want to see a more solid City, a hard to beat and breakdown City. Not one that just goes gung ho from the off, doesnt get the goal the attacks warrant, and then gets hit on the break, 2 or 3 times.

Yeah true. And where is it that we seem to be the best at?The midfield. The attack has been poor, bar Lita, the defence has been a shambles all season. The midfield is only part of the team which is working and is normally better than the oppositions.Hence we have lots of possession, play some really nice looking passing football. But time and again are undone by the poor attack and poor defence we have.Everyone we play seems to have better strikers and a better defence, yet our midfield wins hands down. But the no match in the history of football has been won in the middle of the park. Its either end where games are won and lost.
Would hardly say the full backs are attacking gung ho!

They look clueless when they do venture up field, but its not something they do regularly.
Your joking right?Bertrand thinks he''s a flippin 2nd left winger.

And as a result, ends up getting caught out of position every 5 seconds and helps the opposing team score :/
