Ricardo's Report v Forest

Recommended Posts

A cold old stroll up to the match and an even colder and more miserable stroll back.

You can always rely on Norwich City to fall for the well worn cliches of the game can''t you? A team sacks their manager after a disasterous defeat and plays NCFC the next game with all too predictable results. An out of favour striker comes on to score against his former club. We see it every time don''t we, you can bet money on it because we always oblige.

Did we do anything in this game? Well yes we put in about six or seven minutes decent play each side of our first goal but for the rest of the game hardly anyone turned up. Crofty gave his 100% as did the Doc although the latter mixed a few mistakes with some exellent blocks. Sibierski''s arrival coincided with our best period and his cross for Lita''s late header was deserving of an equaliser but for Lee Camps brilliant save. Apart from that what did we have? Bell was pretty much anonymous, Hoolahan has one good game and five bad ones and I don''t think he will ever perform consistently for us. Semaphore was awful, Ozi, very poor, Pattison, erratic, Clingan, not up to his usual form. GR tells us this is a better team than the one he inherited. If thats true then it''s not by a very big margin.

Forest''s first two goals came about when mid fielders were allowed acres of space to control and shoot. They took their chances well and I thought they were well worth their victory.

Where do we go from here? I think I''ve said it before but every time we take a step forward we follow it up with two steps back. Ive always believed we would finish somewhere between 15th and 18th but on the eveidence of today we have league one written all over us.

I''d be surprised if he''s here at the end of January. A bit overrated and never really plays like he cares. One good set piece out of every 3 or 4 and does very little else.

The usual good summary Ricardo.

We were shocking today. From the first few minutes when we seemed unable to pass the ball the writing was on the wall. Defensively we are a mess. Omo had an awful game, but I''ve rarely seen a pro perform worse than Semmy today. Doc did his best but with little cover. Regardless of anything else, this is the area that must be sorted in the window. If we don''t start keeping clean sheet swe are going down, full stop.

Mediocrity was everywhere today, Patty was abject, Hoolahan will soon screw himself into the ground as he relentlessly pivots to use his only foot, and even Sammy was poor today. Had it not been for Crofty and Lita battling I think the white flag would have been flying well before half time. Even Sibierski looked an improvement.

Still I enjoyed the mass protest at the Coach and Horses and thought Smudger led it brilliantly!

i didnt go to the game but the lack of attacking was evident.. one of the first things Chris Goreham said was "City seem to be showing lack of any attacking intent today" this was after 5 minutes.. after Forest had already almost scored!

You were lucky to miss it JAS. We hardly got in their half for the first 10 minutes and we always looked like we were finding it difficult to get a toe hold in the game.

Somehow we succeeded in making Forest look good. I really think we could fall away badly unless we get someone in with a bit of Character. Now is not the time for the youg boys. They may eventually turn into good pro''s but the older supporters will know what i mean when I say that a "Trevor Hockey" moment is fast arriving.

We get a clean sheet with the experienced (and former captain) Drury playing, then he`s dropped and we concede 6 goals in 2 games.  We badly need wise old heads at the moment.
