Why the hell are we waiting around!?

Recommended Posts

Something that REALLY infuriates me about Worthy is his inability to just come out and say something to the public. Everybody knows he wants Huckerby as much as anyone, so why not just say it? Instead he won''t say anything til Huckers loan expires. WHY?? Now of course Wigan have thrown their hat in the ring first.

If we are going to get Huckers, let''s get him now for god''s sake whilest he''s still a City player. Let''s not wait til he goes back to Man City and then say "Oh by the way want to come back" because by the time we will have done that Wigan and any other club with sense will have talked to him and tried to convince him to go there.

Let''s try and get him now and end this stupid speculation.

I''m afraid he''s waiting around because there is absolutely no chance of signing him. The board knows it, Nigel knows it & deep down the fans know it. Look at the comments made a few weeks ago by Mr Munby & Delia, big wages & a big fee. Ain''t going to happen.

Exactly right Smudge. Worthy knows it is not worth building up the fans hopes as he knows Huckers is well out of our leage financially therefore why say anything. At the end of the day we are not going to get him so lets just concentrate on people who are more in our leage and can start off by extending Crouchies loan. I just hope though that it does not all explode in our faces and that Worthy has some other plan cos what is point of getting to third in league only to fall mid table when loanees disappear. Just a waste of 400 000 quid to me and a build up of fans hopes which never was going to materialise. Prove us wrong board.

We''re "hanging around", because the Premiership transfer window doesn''t open until the 1st January, meaning Premiership clubs can''t buy or sell players until then. Only loan deals can be done at the moment and we''ve already signed him for the 3 month maximum period for a player of his age.

As has been said before, Norwich does not conduct transfer business "through the media" and there is nothing to say that negiotations aren''t already ongoing as we speak, albeit, we''ll have to wait until the 1st January before he could become a Norwich player, or any other club for that matter.

Finally, there''s the small matter of player power. Just because Wigan want to buy him, doesn''t mean, even if they agree a fee with Man City, that he will sign for them. First, he would have to agree personal terms and, even then, he could decide not to join and there would be very little either they or Man City could do about it.

I''m not saying he will sign for us, I still think the chances are very slim, but just because Wigan have "thrown their hat into the ring", doesn''t mean it''s a done deal, or that our Board are being negative.

Nigel we try to bring in a player similar to huckerby on loan but if that does''nt happen lets hope the fans put effort into supporting Mark Rivers, he is also a confidence player and is more effective in the free role.

Can anyone clarify the transfer rules for me - not just what people understand but what the facts are?

I know that the premier sides can not buy players or buy or sell to other countries clubs outside the transfer window UNLESS the player is out of contract.

However I did not think the rules do not apply to nationwide teams who can sign and sell players at will. I accept that nationwide players will not be sold to premier players outside of the transfer window however I understood that nationwide teams can sign players from premier league clubs outside of the transfer window - my prime example being Briane Deane who went from Leicester to West Ham a few weeks ago? Any clarification would be good.

If this is the case can we agree a deal with Man City now and ensure that Hucks is available for the games over Xmas??? For teh sake of two weeks wages we can they test Hucks to find out if he is serious in wanting to stay in Norfolk, we should use the rumoured money offered by Proton matched with a deal that ensures a ''wage boost'' depending on which league we are in should be enough to protect the club from administration. If we get promoted Proton will have themselves the best sponsorship deal in history and city will have hit the proverbial jackpot. If we end up inthis league it will not have been for the want of trying.

How can this not be prudent, as the chancellor would say???

As the song goes

never mind the danger
Steady on, NOWS YOUR CHANCE

Sorry Gazza but Premiership clubs CAN sell their players to Nationwide clubs at any time, not just in the transfer window.

Steven

You''re absolutley right. It''s the buying bit they can''t do, but selling is an option to clubs outside the Premiership. Sorry, but my other comments are still stand.

Don''t understand why there seems to be so much negativity on this board re. our chances of keeping hucks. He himself has said that he''d love to stay here and is hopeful something can be sorted out, Worthy has said he wants him to stay so there must be a chance that he WILL sign a deal. Obviously he maybe on 20k a week at present but I don''t believe for one minute that he''s naive enough to think we could afford anything like that, therefore he would probably take a pay cut in order to get a permanent contract. If we don''t sign him I would be surprised if he went to Wigan as its unlikely that he''d be to excited at the prospect of playing in front of thousands of empty seats every week. Hucks and Crouch are the best chance we''ve had of getting out of this league in seven years and we should do whatever we can to get them. Even if we made the play offs and lost we would make around 1.5 million which would go a long way towards the deal. With them on board the play offs are the least we could hope for.

We are not being negative we are just being realistic, can you honestly say you have heard any positive comments coming out of the board room regarding Huckerby? NO. Ok Huckerby has said that his family like the area, this is the same positive comments he said last year when he was at Forest followed by a sharp U-turn when the wages were discussed. Lets face I don''t think there is anyone who does''nt want Huckerby or Crouch to stay its just unfortunate that the club are about to announce big losses at the same time as these players are due to go back.
Keep positive, two loan players out-two loan players in, who to say the new players won''t do as well.

If the rumours of Celtic are true one thing we cant compete with is the promise of European football which has to be attractive to any player at his peak and looking for a move...

Not sure if you are right there Gazza, generally premier clubs do not buy outside of the transfer window but technically they can. They just will not get license from the Fa to play the player (s) until the next official window opens. That that was the case when the binmen sold heiridsson to Charlton (who had to wait 6 weeks to play competitivey) and Newcastle signed a young midfielder (sorry cant remember his name) also from the binmen. More recently Bartez has moved to Marseille outside the window.

Away Day Specialist

Since this point was initially raised, I''ve been trying to find a web site with comprehensive answers, with little success.

It seems to be that the general rule is Premiership clubs can''t buy or loan players outside the transfer window for immediate use. There are exceptions to the general rule.

Goalkeepers are certainly deemed a specialist postion, so, with consent from the Premiership, clubs can seek replacements if they have an injury crisis with their keepers, like Wolves recent loan deal, taking "Flap Flap" Marshall from that lot down the A140. (I''m not actually aware if Bartez''s move was actually approved in the end because it wasn''t deemed a crisis, but I can''t remeber the final outcome of that one.)

Clubs in administration are permitted to sell players to anyone, hence Hreidarsson and Ambrose being sold to Premiership teams outside the Premiership transfer window. However, as you correctly point out, they''re not permitted to play for their new clubs without special dispensation from the Premier League.
