If people want to get caught up in the technicalities of race issues then they have done so very well.If by using the term "people from the Midlands" you are grouping people from a location together and then insulting them you could be considered to be being racist. Although maybe not recognised you have defined a "race" of people and insulted them. However this seems to be ok at the moment in the current climate so I shouldn''t worry about it!
