Re: Oh where's the fan against fan thread gone?

I''d imagine that Smudger complained about it because it mentioned his business.  Trouble with that is, the genie is out of the bottle.  People now know who he is, so the more work time he spends telling local people how stupid they are, the worse it will get for him, unfortunately.

You don''t think Bush has done a good job against terrorism. SPat?  The lack of bad news from Iraq means things are going very well there, too.  The anti-Bush media doesn''t report that, though.

I am not a big fan of his, but I am not so stubborn as to insist that he has done nothing good in his 8 years.  He was certainly better than the options we had when it came time to vote.  Al Gore and John Kerry? Are you kidding me? Hypocrite limosine liberals, both of them.

I''d say he has done an excellent job in encouraging terrorism.  In invading Iraq, Bush helped to recruit tens of thousands of previously law-abiding Iraquis into becoming terrorists, by dropping bombs on and shooting their relatives.  Way to go.

Would it be fair to say that this was in spite of Bush, rather than because of him ?  Right up until the Obama election, Fox news and the rest of the American media have been so pro-republican it''s just not funny, a virtual one-party state run by the media.  Thank goodness that stranglehold has been broken, if only temporarily.

Al Gore would have made a great president, he had the election stolen from him in Florida.  But if you''d prefer the Governor of Texas who executed more prisoners than any of his predeccesors, that''s your bed, you lie in it.  Bush is a pragmatist, you give him some options and he''ll make a snap decision.  But he''s hardly a thinker.
That was the most entertaining thread to grace this board for a long time, pulling all the heavy-weights together in a final showdown, we have a most pompous man on the planet (who thinks democrats are socialists, ha ha) going toe to toe with a a beligerant troll who can barely remember his name from one minute to the next let alone whether he''s personally insulted people (really, you have truly surpassed yourself here, top embarrasment marks!) and wading in from the sides a man who calls Norfolk people stupid clapping seals and then tries to run a business in Norwich, oops there goes my foot....priceless stuff and of course not forgetting Hoooooston, the man (or woman) who must be about the only person in the world that still thinks Bush did a good job.  I''m not up there with you guys, but if you want to insult me, some of the terms - apologist, bed-wetting. Would have to agree, Yankee. I wasn''t going to get involved in such a personal argument, but I have to say that the evidence is in your favour.
Very well put Blah... It''s true things seem to be improving in Iraq (and clearly Saddam was a scumbag), but yup, hard to see how that helped reduce terrorism, and what about the estimates of 90,000 - 700,000 civilian deaths as a direct result of the invasion? In what other way has Bush helped to combat terrorism?Of course you''re joking about the anti-Bush media. I will give Bush his due, he''s a cynical opportunist who''d driving force has been the creation of wealth for a select few. He''s probably done that, but has managed to also wreck the world economy and globally spread distrust of the USA. He has been quite gracious in his handing over of the poisoned chalice to Obama though.

blahblahblah, the fact is that there have been no terrorist assaults on America since 9-11 because Bush stepped up to the plate and did something about it, something his predecessors chose not to do.  Your take on Iraq is error filled. The terrorism being done there is mostly done by foreigners, not Iraqis, and that has dwindled seriously in the last 18 months.

You are obviously completely unfamiliar with American media if you think it supports Republican politics. The media here is extreemely left-wing, 90%+ Democrat.  Other than Fox, which gives both sides of the story, the main stream media here is very anti-Republican, and has been for decades. The one-party state you accuse us of will take effect in January when Obama gets sworn in.

What about Al Gore would have made him a great president?  His global warming scam he is cashing in on while flying the globe in his personal jet.  Hypocrisy abounds from that flabby dork.

I absolutely agree with everything that HC has said here. Additionally, there''s far too many people willing to treat Barack Obama as a saviour before he has even taken office or done anything at all. He already has his hands full with the alleged corruption in his home state of Illinois. While even us Republicans would like to give the new man a chance it is not helpful that all the negative issues emanating out of Barack''s Illiois background to date he claims to have had no knowledge of.

Fox gives both sides of the story? Come on Houston, I believe I''m right in saying it was the network that was happy to run an unsubstantiated ( and totally fabricated ) story about a Bush campaigner who claimed to have been assaulted and branded  by black Obama supporters. It is rabidly and unquestioningly right wing. In fact its only questioning of the Republicans is in terms of criticising them for not going far enough

I note that you didn''t comment on the remark about Gore being cheated in Florida.

As for oil rich Iraq, however unpleasant Saddam was (and no argument from me on that score), he held together a disparate country which has fragmented in the hands of its "liberators",who have shown little or no sensitivity to its culture.

Ultimately, Bush is a puppet for the likes of Cheney who have used him to line their own pockets. As for the "nice" handover just wait for the last minute legislation to allow drilling in Alaska.

HC I know we have had this debate before but Fox is not balanced!!!!!!!! Nobody that employs Bill O''Reilly is ''fair and balanced.'' So they let Alan Combes on to be the weak liberal type for the rest to bully doesnt make them balanced. CNN certainly leans to the left as does MSNBC but they both dont have a slgan of ''fair and balanced.''

I think it had more to do with Wiz being shown in a very bad light, but yes, David and Clyde. Sounds like a rather dodgy folk duo doesn''t it?
Thank you Mister Chops for acknowledging where the lack of grace existed. That did not particularly bother me because, if I was perturbed by Wizard''s earlier caustic input, then I would not have sent him a get well message. However, when Wizard continued to cast aspersions in my direction during his interface with Ron Obvious, and then calling me a "crawler" for the private message I had sent to him, then it was time for the truth to emerge. I''ve had a lot of "interesting" debates with Wizard over the past five years but, as I''ve said earlier, never did I refer to him in the manner that he did me. Yet I was not the one trying to get the thread deleted. That should tell others all they need to know. Anyway, time to move on to other interesting debates.
