Delia's frugal recipe - or the top table in 2009?

Delia''s Frugal Food
by Delia Smith

Delia''s Frugal Food by Delia SmithProduct Description
At a time when money worries are front-page news, Britain’s most trusted cook, Delia Smith, is once again on hand with a wide range of tasty recipes that are cheap and easy to prepare.

Being frugal can be fun  once you’ve learned a few simple tricks, among them:

• buying fresh produce when it’s in season (January sales?)

• replacing more expensive ingredients with humbler alternatives (Jamie for Earnie, Hooly for Hucks,....)

• experimenting with different cuts of meat (except Lupoli and the youngsters)

• being creative with leftovers (Roedy''s burden, poor fellow)

Thirty years on, the message of Delia’s Frugal Food has never seemed more relevant. With some 170 recipes, from luxury soups to paupers’ puddings, this new illustrated edition shows you how to eat well without having to spend a fortune.

Chapters include:

• The Cheap Charter (loanee policy)
• Luxury Soups (Lupoli and Gibbs and Henry and Troy and...)
• Eggs and Us (treading on Hucks)
• Frugal Fish (Neil - served cold)
• Chicken''s Lib (The NCFC board)
• Forequarter Front (Rusty Striker)
• Offal - But I Like You (Kennedy)
• Bangers Are Beautiful (Ardee gets foot in Yellows)
• Cook for Victory (Delia vows to use hot pepper sometimes, Oops!)
• Go with the Grain (follow nutty & co down, down, down with smiles on faces)
• Who Needs Meat? (We do)
• Quickening Pulses (PC sighted on Boxing Day)
• Back to Baking (new set of cheapies & loanees in January)
• Pauper''s Puddings (Roedy''s transfer budgets)

Ah well.

Do we accept our fate? Or take control of our destiny?

That''s the big ''un for 2009.

Of course Delia and PC could always get together and design a recipe fit for the top table.

Life is short. Get it on you two.

Pride comes before a fall.

Fans? Cross your fingers, prepare your new year wishes - and pray.

In the meantime y''all have a happy and blessed Christmas.

Well. 2009 has certainly been interesting so far.

Delia Smith and Peter Cullum need to get together and work things out. Life is short.
