stewards at reading

Recommended Posts

How pathetic they were today, they didnt like anyone singing or standing.

Looks like they are not used to singing as Reading were so quiet today.

Anyway fair play to lads at the back, good humour and in good voice!

I personally thought they were alright, how exactly does sitting down stop you from singing?? My mum is unable to stand for the duration of the match and couldn''t do much about the fact some a**ehole decided to remain standing in front of her, we asked him politely to sit down and he gave us a mouthfull - if the stewards hadn''t told him to sit down we would not have seen the game - but if you say they were pathetic it must be true - nice one!!!!!!

Anybody care to explain why the seats 5 rows from the back were wet. We had great fun arguing with the stewards who were trying to make us sit down. Some old boy, must have been 70 refused to sit and demanded the steward went and fetched a towel to dry his seat.

He was eventually escorted to a dry seat. Stewards were pretty pathetic really. What harm people standing at the back were doing i don''t know.

i was about 4 rows away from the lads causing the squit, seriously what do they thinks going to happen if they goad the stewards... they get escorted out, right or wrong its going to happen, so why antaganise them? one thing i didnt like was the abuse a female early 20''s steward got, that was out of order, oh and the skin head 50 year old sitting in the end seat in front of them giving the stewards verbals and being a general arse instead of watching the match

I was sat (first half) in the seat directly in front of the stewards and they just spent the entire match pointing at fans and trying to decide who to throw out next. They almost regarded it as their duty to find someone to eject. I spent a large chunk of the first half "debating" with them as to whether what they were doiung was helpful. My view was that they were being pathetic and creating problems where there were none.

I was informed by some uptight woman steward that i should shut up as "the fans don''t make the rules, its our ground and if we want people to sit down then they will do." They went very quiet though when I queried whether they spent the whole game picking on Cardiff fans when they come to town rather than a  few Norwich kids on the back row who really weren''t bothering anyone.

As someone has said above Reading is the worst away day in teh championship and the stewards only served to make it worse!

Jim:  CBS?

The sit down shut up brigade make me sick.  You cannot sing sitting down if you''re a ''proper'' football fan. That should get a response. People want an atmosphere but are not willing to be part of those making it!  The Prem season killed it for me with all the glory hunters getting their own supporters into trouble.

FFS football is about passion and yes its everyones right to sit down but if you''re happy with that I would guess you''re either too old or young to stand or one of the new breed of supporter who is ruining the atmosphere for those of us who remember (and desperately want back) terracing.  While understanding that Stewards have a job to do they also have to be flexible.  Why let everyone stand at Watford, Forest etc (or on Derby Day at Carrow Rd) then sit down at other places.  Saturday the snakepit men in a jacket will be out again after kick-off threatening to eject anyone standing.  Bring it on.

Yes mate thats me.

It was pathetic at Reading on saturday. They kept citing the ground regulations and the fact the FA could close parts of their ground if they did not enforce the rule that spectators have to remain seated.

I''m sure the FA would have been focusing all their attention on whether a few fans at tinpot reading were standing on the back row! Not as if a reduction in ground capacity for one game would effect them anyway!

Anyone else notice both ends at Chelsea standing for the complete game yesterday? It is very common at most Premiership grounds and goes without any comment. Anybody ever seen the Kop sitting at Liverpool?

You all sit here moaning about abuse to stewards....what about the barclay signing to david norris ''''Your friends a murderer'''' if i was the family in the incident in hand i would feel that this chant was rather bad taste....yet this goes unmentioned.
