Too late already? Will the board act?

Recommended Posts

Given the board''s usual reluctance to act quickly in manager situations are they not in real danger of acting too late? Ramos went quickly at Spurs - and this was a manager with a track record at a high level - the players just were not playing for him. There are parallels with us it seems to me. Something is rotten.

Anyone who now believes we are not in a relegation battle that will last til April is looking at the matter with rose tinted glasses. Last year needed an unbeaten run just to reach mid-table. We are unlikely now to get 2 points a game surely (which will just see us safe given the fact that there are no teams really struggling and adrift. We are only 4 points away from bottom.

The board must act quickly and decisively if they are not to preside over a disaster for Norfolk let alone the club. Sure, they may sell soon and their record will be seen as respectable in the long term, keeping the club afloat and being part of a premiership season and bringing through the occasional star player. However if we go down they will be judged as failures (like most managers are judged in time) as for the first time in over 50 years we will not be in the top divisions, will not attract the players needed (and therefore investment) and crowds will drop off (look at other teams).

Message therefore to the board: At least find the investment to pay Roeder off. Act quickly. There may still be time for someone who really has the players and the club that is Norwich City in his heart (Worthy always did and I belive even Grant). We may see one or two younger players coming through that will help us for the future. We may then see contracted players feeling they have a place. We may see fans treated with more respect. As a board you have a small window to at least do something positive (and will bring back some fans on board, not all).

having seen the goals we conceded on itv this morning, i was truly shocked at what can only be described a ''relegation type'' defending...for instance, i didn''t see a challenge come from yella jersey in all of em - no bottle, no fight, standing off the opposition, gifting space to opponents, not tracking runs, defenders rooted to the spot like musical statues, and then when the goal is conceded, plenty of looking around at each other as if to say ''how did that happen?''  lame or what??? if anyone doubts it, we''re in trouble - the squad has got used to leaking, cheap goals and look clueless on how to plug the gaps...for the first, we had plenty of men in the box, in fact - you can spot the sheff man simply running through a pack of city players and meeting the ball fair and square - uncontested...there was no attempt to block, or jump and compete///for the second, a simple 1-2 unlocks our static defence, and although the doc runs with the scorer, he''s standing off the geezer - in our pen area, allowing the sheff forward to get his shot away - uncontested,,,for the third, a hopeful bouncing cross threads its way over the far post, where an unmarked sheff player cooley accepts the chance...sure, every team gifts the odd goal here and there to the opposition, but to let 3 uncontested/undefended goals go in suggests we''ve got plenty of probs here...

We haven''t heard a field-mouse ''squeak'' from anyone in the hierarchy at Carra - apart from our current ''hide of a rhino'' and ''arrogance of a Government Minister'' and most ''popular'' patronising pap producing CE. The rest are hiding in their boardroom bunker till the negatives disappear - and a positive.....hopefully comes along......

Sums it all up when at the recent AGM, they bleat to the audience "What would you do about it then?"....Er, actually, don''t you pay handsome salaries to folk who have that ultimate accountability and responsibility?.....And why are they still employed here, if they can''t perform that duty? Any other business......GONE!

The board are so out of their depth - and now, their the toy periscope isn''t even breaking the surface......Cleverer than the rest?

Not even cleverer than a snooker rest.....[:|]

[/quote]sure, the prem inbetweenies of crouch, hucks, haper and then later - svenny - were proven, unblemished players - who simply played to the levels of their abilities and helped us get up,,,being cleverer this time, has meant cranking the loan system to its limits, but unlike our promotion season, this season recruits have all had question marks against them, and consequently, its fair to say they have been gambles that haven''t come off...they''re either too old, too young, too injury suspect, too out of form before coming here, and now most resemble champs/league one ''inbetweenies''???
