SuperWesIrishWizard 0 Posted November 17, 2008 A lot is said about having loan players that dont care about City. At the AGM Roeder was disrespectful to the fans.Getting a manager in that cares about the club, cares about the fans and knows the history, seems like the right move to me. Somebody that the fans can get excited about and relate to.My prime candidate would be Mark Bowen, however im sure his job as Man City assistant is more attractive than Norwich manager could be worth a try.Alternatives include:Mike Walker Ian CrookIwan RobertsDion DublinNone of those would require much money and would probably take a short term contract (what were we thinking giving ANYBODY two and half years if we knew we couldnt afford to sack them?) blinded by the story 0 Posted November 17, 2008 Bowen will be available soon when the Arab Mancs change Manager, but he is only a number 2I want Boothroyd & Malky.
John 0 Posted November 17, 2008 Dion Dublin for me.The 1 reason I''d want to keep Roeder is that if he stays this club willremain on a stable path. However there is no hiding from the fact thatalmost every player we have at the club is shot of confidence. I nolonger believe Roeder, nor did i ever really believe, that he had aconnection with the players. I think it was mainly Dion who was themain motivator for the squad last season.I now believe it hasgot to the stage where there needs to be a drastic change of personnelat the club, as the current are not functioning correctly. I''ve heardfrom many fans of the club (such as yourself SuperWes), that have connections with the players that Roeder is heavily disliked by avast amount of players at Norwich. That worries me, as i think we allknow that could be seriously destructive for the club, and if thats thecase, it must be changed at all costs, or it will see us decline for aslong as the current staff are at the club.I personally thinkDion Dublin should be manager. Not an idea that will be appreciated byall, and i accept there will be financial difficulties if it were tohappen. However i believe Dion beholds the foundations of which is required in order to be a successful manager.Ithink the respect held amongst people within the footballing industrytoward Dublin is one that will stand him in good stead as a manager. His connections, as is the case with Roeder, could be considered large, and unlike Peter Grant, i don''t think he will fall short of backingfrom other well known figures within football.Another reason ibelieve him to be a good contender for the managerial hotseet atNorwich is that he is a known, well liked and respected figure amongstthe players. I feel with Dublin that he had a larger influence amongstthe players in his time here than even the manager or staff did.Players like Mark Fotheringham, Darel Russell, Jason Shackell, ChedwynEvans, and even Darren Huckerby talked about how Dion Dublin, whentheir performances went unnoticed, he would talk to them individuallyand motivate them to continue their efforts, and often indicated thatbecause of Dion they not lose heart. Almost a coach for the side whenRoeder fell short in those areas of management. And that''s oneof the biggest reasons why i think he should be a managerial contender.I heard people who had held conversations with the man, and they oftenemphasised how Dion Dublin would often say the biggest differencebetween Roeder and the likes of Ferguson was that Sir Alex was willingto listen to players, something Roeder apparently lacked. Dublinhimself would give the players his time and attention as a veteranwithin football if you like, when Roeder was fairly distant from theplayers. It''s true he lacks experience, but i think the fact hecan easily and confidently differentiate from good and bad managersshows he is fairly knowledgeable when it comes to managing. He has thebacking within the industry, of people that will happily give him hisattention and support as well.Come to think of it, he wasactually interviewed to be manager at Norwich when Peter Grant hadleft. I even seem to remember him being quite disappointed at notgetting the job.Despite being on contract to sky, i believe heshould at least be considered. He beholds the correct sort ofpersonality and character to have a positive influence on the players, and he appears to be a familiar character to the players, and one ithink they''d want to perform well for.I honestly believe he could turn this clubs fortunes around, and offers the exact kind of change we need. National express super guard 0 Posted November 17, 2008 BRING BACK CHIPPY. perhaps with Dion as his number 2. But with Dion probably on a very good deal with sky sports we prob can''t match his wages unbelieveably.Ian Crook though loves this club and is a good manager, albeit in australia. However I think he left his last job coz fell out with his clubs chairman, so if he speaks his mind then we''ll never see him here under this regime
