OT: A11 dualling to start in 2010

Recommended Posts

According to today''s EEN.

Brought forward from 2012/13.  The government have talked about investing in infrastructure during the economic downturn so perhaps we''re one of the first beneficiaries.

Good news on the face of it, but past experience says believe it when you see it . . .

It might encourage a developer to consider taking over, and putting a new ground somewhere near the A11 on the south of the city, and selling Carrow Road to turn into flats.  Doing something similar made Arsenal a lot of money.  But we''re not in London, and times are tight.  So probably not then.

1. It was due to start in 2005 (source: Highways Agency website at  the time) so its hardly a case of being brought forward!!!

2. I think the route has already been planned, so why does it take over a year to decide the contractor? If we are in need of putting money into the economy they should get through the contract award stage quickly.
