BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted November 18, 2008 From Martin Peters in the EDP. Now all we need is a Capello for City. Or is Roeder the no nonsense man?Capello brings back memories for Peters18 November 2008World Cup winner Martin Peters yesterday compared Fabio Capello to Sir Alf Ramsey and praised the current England boss for banishing the WAGS who accompanied the national team.Peters was in the 1966 team the late Ramsey guided to glory at Wembley, and the former Norwich City midfielder sees discipline as the common theme between the two regimes."In many ways they are alike because you don''t step out of line with Capello and you certainly didn''t with Sir Alf," he said. "If you did you know he''d be down on you like a ton of bricks."Capello seems to be determined that there are no WAGS (wives and girlfriends) around, which is brilliant because the players can just look at what they are doing on the football pitch rather than other things. He is strong and determined, just like Alf."Capello has led England to four wins from four World Cup qualifiers, raising hopes of the modern generation following in the footsteps of Peters and his fellow Wembley heroes who beat West Germany in the World Cup final 42 years ago."I wouldn''t say they couldn''t but we have to look at getting there first," Peters said. "We have the basis of the team and there may be others given a chance."Does anybody really believe that only 3 of Capello''s first choice team would be playing if their clubs had a premiership match tomorrow?OTBC

Time will tell.I guess we''ll pretty much know by Xmas.At the moment we''re ''only'' 11 points off the play-offs, so there is plenty of scope for a sharp turnaround.OTBC
