Was it the marbles?[^o)] Maybe it was just me[;)] But anyway - just after Worthy was sacked I started a thread, just for a bit of fun, rumouring that in an attempt to unite the fans the club were going to appoint Doug Livermore as the new manager. I was only having a bit of fun playing on the irony of nCIsA sponsoring Livermore and seemingly wanting him out at the same time[*-)]. That thread got my favourite reply ever from a real "Mr Angry" type[:@] saying "Yeah, Marbles, rumoured by you, you mean. You are nothing but a stirrer and one of the reasons this forum is going down hill fast." And poor old Kathy managed to distance nCIsA from the whole thing by explaining how, if they pulled the plug on "Deadly Doug", who nCIsA had now re-branded as "the assistant manager", they''d be sponsoring the tea lady! The thread is here for anyone who has a warped sense of humour like mine and wants a retro-laugh to cheer them up! http://new.pinkun.com/cs/forums/769344/ShowPost.aspxSo I don''t think I have changed much in 5000 posts. I still see the funny side and double standards when angry posters are baying for blood toward their latest "we want out" hate figures. Me and Kathy are friends united in our love of the club. And dear old Doug is happily re-loved by all sitting proudly in our hall of fame resting on his wonderful achievements as a player and then assistant manager, instrumental for us over two championship winning teams in 1972 & 2004. gazzathegreat 0 Posted November 20, 2008 Nutty, funny you should mention Doug....I met him once, at a reserve match - my ex and I were guests of FONCY for sponsorship etc and actually sat in the Directors'' box for that game. (Sorry to shatter any illusions, but I didn''t enjoy it much in the carpeted areas of the City Stand). Anyway Doug came up to us and said that the rain had created a nice surface for playing a nice game of passing football. To which ex replied "It''s a shame the first team never play any". Doug was most offended by this remark and said "Perhaps you would like to come up to Colney and take training tomorrow then". Well, I didn''t know where to look. Doug was very different to the cuddly Mr NW. And then there was good old Foley, oh happy days.....lol

gazzathegreat 0 Posted November 21, 2008 Nutty, same here, and to be honest, Doug was never that approachable......unlike your great favourite who was a genuinely friendly guy, always had a chat up at Colney. I always thought there was something not quite right about you, Margaret Thatcher......ummm, explains quite a lot.
