hang about, are we for sale?

Recommended Posts

after reading delias comments on edp24.co.uk this morning, it appears she does indeed wanna go. the club is now using keith harris (orville and that bloody monkey are probably helping) to find investment, which would normally only mean a buy out. if you put 60 million in to a club, would you not want total control). Her comments about cullum also indicate they are keen to take the money and run.I know its Delia, and she''s about as trustworthy as a blind signal man, but sounds like she wants out, as much as we want her out?
Yep, she''s asked Keith Harris to find a buyer for our club. He has a good record of finding buyers for clubs and I think he will find us a buyer.
In today''s Guardian Keith Harris says that he can''t find a buyer for Everton due to their financial unattractiveness and their poor location, so good luck with that one!

They''re in Liverpool, that''s as unattractive as they come. [:)]

According to the EDP, he is to look for "new investment" which could mean just about anything.

Only a few premierchip clubs make any money, ManU, liverpool, arsenal and spurs and one other I can''t recall - football clubs are a toy not a financial investment which makes them difficult to sell

Are we for sale?  Here''s what Munby has to say (EEN today):

"As we speak I can confirm that we are actively searching for investment with the ideal credentials to take us into the long term on the principles that have succeeded so well for the past 12 years."

AAAARRRGGHH!!! [:@]

We`ve made a profit in nine out of the last fourteen years and overall are well in profit for that period.

If profit is what Mumby wants then we won''t get it if we have new investors in place! All clubs that have been taken over always make a lose due to the amount of money that they pump into the player budget. Just look at the amount of debt Chelsea are in due to Abramovich taking over!

That''s the past which is irrelevant as we live now and in the future although it seems some posters don''t realise that. Recently and currently we are not profitble and neither are nearly all football clubs per the independent  Deloitte report -  TV money at the top and new wealthier owners have changed the "economics" of football.

Spot on we have and I say this all the time. We were the 12th most profitable club in the country over a 5 year period, this is what makes Doncasters drivel about having no money to spend all the worse.

Who''s not?

Liverpool owe £350m a large slice of which may get pulled in January

You cant argue that because we have limited funds we''re going down, pretty much everyone is in the same boat

My hopes for a swift return to the Prem died a year before Grant even came on the scene, when I compared the size of our squad with the rest of the Championship (joint smallest with, ahem, Leeds) and realised we had no chance of an immediate return, despite the parachute money.

Right now I''d settle for a top half finish in the Championship.  But talking of the Prem, take the trouble to have a look and you''ll realise things are changing.  Apart from the top few clubs it''s closer this year than it''s been for a decade.  With the right amount of ambition and investment we''d have a better chance of going up and staying there now than we did in 2005.
