Loan No.10... Manager???!!!

Given the prevalence on loan PLAYERS, surely it is not beyond comprehension that the boards of football clubs will look at getting a MANAGER in on loan in order to troubleshoot and sort out problems with player cohesion, player-management relationships and adding impetus to the players, club and fans.

This would serve a number of purposes including and not limited to:

1) refocussing the ''permanent'' manager''s outlook and workrate

2) avoiding large payouts on contract severances

3) accessing troubleshooting specialist manager''s (Roeder may be an example of this) while allowing time to target a permanent ''long-term'' manager.

At the end of the loan they can be sent back to obscurity, having performed their miracle (hopefully). If the permanent one messes up again, he''s out - and this time with no severance due to underperformance of the terms of his contract.

Not necessarily; Ramos might manage the reserves while ''Arry works the 1st team; Once thigs are deemed safe, or at the end of the loan, Harry goes and Ramos takes over.

If Ramos messes the team up again, hes out - then time for a new manager!

At least the troubleshooter can work knowing hes got to sort it out - he may charge a premium (like Red Adare) but for a proven track record, it may be money well spent. PG could have done with this as with very little managerial experience the troubleshooter with his experience can show them the way, or in Roeders case, show him the door!!!

The League Managers Association advise and usually draw up most contracts, or provide the basis at the very least.  I don''t think they would agree to that.

And if it isn''t a contract approved by the League Managers Association, the Football Association won''t sanction the person concerned as the Manager.  The only exception are caretaker managers when the current manager has departed.

To an extent this is supporting the work of the members, enabling more of them to keep their jobs and actually enable these specialists also to gain work; therefore more people get a chance to do their jobs. Its a bit like Ofsted sending in the County Head to sort out failing schools; currently we would be in special measures!

My understanding is that the FA have no jurisdiction over the appointment if the manager, only the qualifications that that person must possess to gain a license to manage.

I''m afraid it''s very unionised but in a blazer sort of way, if you wish.  Everyone looks after themselves.  If you are Football League Manager you have to join the LMA and if they don''t approve the contract and forward it to the FA he won''t be your Manager.

No, the current way is to hire a Director of Football and they don''t come cheap.

Possibly not loaning, but I do think it a good idea that managers have "real" valuations instead of compensation. For a lower league club doing well.. to suddenly lose your manager to a bigger club is near devastating... so transfer fees should be put in. Although the flip side of that is... a small clubs doing well, then sells their manager... and "snaps up a freebie" to replace lol... dang can you imagine that!

Not feasible.

1. It would still cost money (More I imagine, having to pay someone to do the job the club manager cant)

2. Football Managers Ego''s are far too big. Can you imagine Glenn Roeder letting someone come in to do the job he''s making a mess of?? Understandable, imagine your boss saying ''we''d like to sack you, but frankly it would cost too much, so what were going do is appoint someone else to do your job, feel free to hang around and make cups of tea though!! You wouldnt be happy.

 

Peterborough tried this a few years ago, After Big Ron''s racist chant, Skyone and Barry Fry asked him to come and help the manager achive promotion, think they were doing ok at the time (6th/7th) It was kicking off on the training ground everyday, the manger didnt want Ron around, Ron wanted more control, Actually ended yp with the manager resigning at leaving a game at half time!!
