Why Not Just Walk Away From The Club?

Recommended Posts

Thats right, if you don''t want to follow or suppport failure, just walk away and let the board and club crumble in the mess of its own making.

Lets face it, we''ve been mislead and fed porkies for years now, our ambition as fans has never been matched by the fools entrenched in their expensively carpeted boardroom.

I''m pretty close myself, and its been proven in another thread, that many of us have loads of interests other than our constantly failing football club, owners, manager and directors!

Okay, I might not spend as much as some of you on here, but my spending every year on City is in three figures, and I''m thinking that could be spent more wisely elsewhere.

After 50+ years of continuous active support, the thought of actually quitting that support has started to loom in my mind.

Anyone else feeling the same today?

The club havent had any money out of my wallet for the past 2 seasons, and I grow less and less interested with the club week by week.

The money I save is being spent on other things that give me far more joy and don''t cause me to become a depressed slob on Saturday evenings.

I don''t often get to go to games because of playing saturday football but i went to the game against preston and a couple of things struck me... firstly it is easy to forget what a nice pitch and ground we have... secondly... that so much has changed at our club since i left to go to london in 95... how far we have fallen in terms of quality... the way the fans are ... understandably so...  we are a negative bunch now aren''t we?

this brings me round to Wizards question... i won''t walk away from supporting my team.. in fact i plan to go to more games now that i am in norwich a little more than i was... hope springs eternal an al that jazz...

people who have season tickets though i can imagine you must start to question the money you spend on watching a team that fails you most of the time... i mean the money you spend on a season ticket is a holiday (stress free??!) away somewhere further than clacton etc...

i won''t give up on my support of norwich as one thing i have learnt in life is... never give up... you have to experiance the lows to appreciate the highs... man utd arsenal liverpool chelsea fans i imagine don''t feel the same as we do when we win...

hang in there wiz.... perhaps go to zavvi and buy a hitchcocks anthology of films on dvd for £20 reduced from £90... it''s perked me up no end... :)

I have already "walked away" insomuch as I''m being quite choosey as to the matches I attend this season. I haven''t been for several weeks, and had thought about going to the Swansea game this Saturday, but I don''t think I can muster enough enthusiasm to go now. My passion for my club has waned considerably due to this policy of filling out so many positions with loanees. Also I consider £19 to be a very steep price to pay to watch City struggle against the likes of mighty Preston. My next match will probably be Notts Forest on TV. I know I shall face accusations of being a fairweather supporter, but I don''t really care! I have felt quite a bit happier since I started to forgo those Saturday afternoon "entertainments" at Carrow Road.

Just remember Wiz people reach breaking points at different times, we have reached ours along with others, and some are more than happy with the situation as it stands, watching our team play mediocre football week in week out under a self deluded, arrogant and up his own harris manager and with a board that can take us no further.

Its the anger and frustration I feel as to what Smith & Jones have done to our once great club and the damn lies on here that she somehow saved us!

Maybe I can''t walk away after all...................only time will tell.

At the end of the day it doesn''t matter how fed up with the board you are. It doesn''t matter what your opinion is of The Arogant One. It doesn''t matter how poor our team are.

If you are a fan you still turn up every week to support the team because irrespective of everything else they are Norwich City FC and they are the team we support.

To be fair it''s not the first time a lot of us have been here in NCFC''s history, but never can I remember after over 20+ years of support, nor my better half after over 40+ years support, a time when we as fans have felt so low, so very let down, by the board, the manager and the assembled team of rabble we call a team.

It''s very hard to get enthusiastic about watching your team (I say that toungue in cheek as most don''t belong to us), under-performing, under-achieving, and getting beaten away from home and only scraping the odd win at home.

Yes as a football fan you take the rough with the smooth, if we had our own team it might be a start.  But I feel no loyalty to the team because quite simply most of them aren''t ours anyhow.  And they don''t give the fans anything to cheer, chant or clap for.

The atmosphere at CR @ the Wolves game was electric, in fact i''d not known it like that since god knows when, why?  Because the team played well and gave the crowd something to get excited about (even if the following match was a damp squib).

If people think it''s easy to stop supporting then they are in cloud cuckoo land, along with those who think everything at CR is rosey.  NCFC has been in our hearts for many many years, and it''s not easy to stop, but I have reached a point where I am not even a little disappointed or shocked when we lose or draw, and not overly excited when we manage to scrape a win.  Apart from the social side of home matches I wonder why we kept going?  It certainly wasn''t to see fantastic football from a fantastic squad, maybe out of loyalty, or the fact that we had paid almost £900 between the 2 of us for two season tickets.

It hurts being a NCFC fan at the moment.

You are so right, A matchday is a social experience. How many people travelling to Burnley out of the near 1000 who travelled expected to win. Our group certainly didn''t. We spent most of the journey talking about what was wrong with the club and how bad we had been the previous two seasons at Burnley. This was all forgotten once in the Cricket Club enjoying some food and prematch beers as well as banter with the locals. The game as we expected was awfull. The journey home was horrendous with torrential rain. Back in the pub in Norwich that night though we all agreed it had been a great day out. Shame about the match.

You can''t just give this up. It''s a way of life for many of us.

It is a way of life, but you are paying hard earned dosh for football, a social life is all part of that yes, but it''s mainly the football we go for is it not?

It might make life easier for us and the match day more enjoyable if we had a team of our own triers, that gave 110% each match, but even the football is not good any longer.

Five years ago I would have felt the same as you and if I ever told any of my family that I was thinking of stopping going to games they would have laughed at me, but there is only so much I can put up with and after 36 years of only missing 2 home games and taking in quite a few away games I am finally getting fed up of feeling so low on a Saturday night after yet another poor performance or result. I simply don''t look forward to going to games at the moment, there is no atmosphere and most of the time the football is about as exciting as watching grass grow.

I will be giving up my season ticket this year if Delia and co remain at the club because I know without money coming in there will be more of the same old  rubbish we''ve had to put up with for the last few years to endure.

The club has been around for over 100 years and you would hope (though with the current regime, you wonder if it''ll be in the same form as it is at the moment) it will be for another 100.

Its THAT I support, the club-then, now, and in the future, and the club as a whole. Those that are managing it at the moment are its custodians and should feel priviliged to have that position. The club will be here, and we will be here, long after they have gone and are, by and large, forgotten.

Some -Mr Watling for example, Ken Brown, Hucks- will long promote and provoke good memories and goodwill. Others won''t, still more will, as I previously said, will be forgotten so will provoke no memories and opinion-much as they might now, and much as they might enjoy it.

But the club remains and sometimes I''d love to walk away from the bitch. But I can''t, its an addiction, I still love her, for all thats happening now, and I''ll always be there, good times, bad, and now!

No. Go take a running jump. I for one couldn''t care less if you stopped supporting the club. You don''t spend your money watching them so we will be no worse off if you do crawl up that miserable cave you live in

Tell you what Wiz...reading some of the responses here sure indicates what a load of tossers frequent this place....and why Delia has fooled so many of them for so long. I walked away from Delia Smith''s version of Norwich City...but I''ll be back when sanity returns in whatever league she leaves us in.
