How many of the people who were desperate for Fozzy to sign a long-term contract extension still feel the same way?

I''ll admit I was one of them at the time, but now I am almost pleased that he isn''t on a long-term contract. The way Clingan has played so far has not helped Fozzy''s situation, but if we were to let him go in the summer I wouldn''t really be bothered. We have Russell, Clingan and now Pattison is starting to perform to his capabilities, that area of the team is starting to look solid.

Would you extend his contract this summer?

I would extend his contract ONLY if there was no better replacement we could afford. I think the way Glenn has worked it is Clingan and Fotheringham are the holding players, Russell and Pattison are the attacking players so he has cover for each position and tactic.

Pattison is also cover for Hoolahan so if injures come in we have enough midfielders to cover every position and Fotheringham plays a key part in this.

[/quote]The way he''s playing at the moment he''s behind Russell and Clingan, and Pattison - and I haven''t seen much of Bell but he looks tidy - in fact, Fozzy''s current form would have me pick Spillane ahead of him.  So if he goes, he goes... I wouldn''t be that bothered.Note though that he may become cover for Clingan, as Fozzy/Rusty play well together, but Fozzy/Clingan are not a dynamic duo.

Fotheringham has to potential to do a job for us, he shouldn''t be starting but like i say, he''s a handy guy to have in a squad IMO.

Fotheringham and Russell were are best two central midfielders when Roeder came to the club. After those two it was Rossi Jarvis and Spillane who are now at the bottom of the 4th Division.  Fotheringham was instrumental in our survival last season. But since Roeder has been at the club he has brought in better players. There would have been no point bringing in players that were no better than Fozzy or we would have stood still. Fozzy has not got worse, we now have some of the best players in the division and the squad is much deeper.

It''s called moving onwards and upwards[:S] If we didn''t still have Fotheringham the squad would be weaker. We need to keep the better players we have and then aim to bring even better ones in. That''s what Roeder is doing. Cureton is now a squad player behind Lita and Lupoli. It''s the same all over the pitch.

How is this possible? You mean Roeder''s improved the squad? Given that he & the Board are clueless, this is beyond belief.Unless ...
