pennywise 0 Posted October 26, 2008 i think david bell has looked very decent in his brief appearances so far i think its time he was given a start over croft, i really couldn`t understand the booing when croft got substituted yesterday i thought glenn should have done it earlier
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted October 26, 2008 I agree. Bell is much more likely to produce and was getting his head down and forcing in the crosses. He also did one really nice step over a descending ball and sent his marker the wrong way.
NCFC_Shaun 0 Posted October 26, 2008 Haven''t seen enough of Bell. And in my opinion Croft doesn''t deserve to be dropped at the minute. Even thought many people disagree with me, however, we all seem to have watched different games and different players when we comment about them ...
GJP 79 Posted October 26, 2008 Different types of player.Croft has got pace and can run at players, not sure if David Bell has really got that about him. But then David Bell looks a sensible player who''ll twist and turn and use the ball sensibly.Shame for Lee Croft because we starved him of the ball quite a bit yesterday and he''s been blamed for not doing anything and then he put that one on a plate for Russell early on and people say he''s got no end product. I''d have brought Bell on for Hoolahan yesterday and told him to stay out wide and give us the width we didn''t have with Hoolahan.
Hooleyfan 0 Posted October 26, 2008 When Croft works hard he is exciting and a joy to watch...but he doesn''t put a shift in every time. His crossing ability is well documented and he does seem to work best with Semmy, but that doesn''t always work because Semmy can also hide. I think Bell deserves a start...its good for keeping everyone on their toes
pennywise 0 Posted October 26, 2008 following glenns comments about players who dribble and players who pass you would think he would play bell every time, then he goes on about croft being undroppable at the moment, i suppose bell is more your david beckham cross it in early type and croft is more your shaun wright phillips run at them type, i think eventually bell will get the nod though
Empty Mirror 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Croft has consistently been one our biggest threats going forward. Yes, his crossing could improve. But, the mere fact that he can go past his man scares the opposition. Which in turn means that by about fifteen minutes into the game they are doubling up on him which should mean there''s space elsewhere - which is why when Semmy, with his pace plays behind Croft, once the opposition are doubling up on Croft, there''s room for Semmy to go outside. Bell looks a decent enough player, but doesn''t (so far) scare the opposition in the same way. Perhaps the opposition think Croft is a bigger threat than he really is (we8wba seemed to be most impressed by Croft) but don''t underestimate the value of a player who scares the opposing defence. The criticism that Croft can drift out of games is misplaced, I think. He''s tactically disciplined and stays wide right. That gives the team shape, and width and means there''s always an outlet. It''s for others to use him - when they don''t it''s because Croft staying wide right (and always drawing one and sometimes two defenders over to him) has created space elsewhere. If Croft were to go looking for the ball like Hoolahan we''d end up with a very compressed and congested midfield.I''m not against Bell, or Hoolahan - but if Croft were dropped after his recent performances it would send out a stange message. And he''s also one of our youngest players - in a couple of years he could be awesome.
lucky green trainers 0 Posted October 27, 2008 crofty has lots of energy, he''s done loads of gym work and got stamina under his belt - and therefore he is getting picked by roedy rather than benched this term - there''s no doubt the bot is coming on leapos and bounds under roedy - we''ve seen this season he CAN be direct and devastating (when confident),,,but his crossing and choice of finalball still needs working on...for me, for example, when he burst into the area 2nd min sat - he should have shot and hard to the far post, and although he make a good pick with his cutback to rusty - maybe that ball was delivered to strongly for rusty to get his body shape right,,,on the other hand, bell looks to have a better delivery and more knowledgeable footy brain (in match play situaaashuns)...i guess it comes down to managers preference and ultimately the stats - who will score more goals and create them for naarwich city, while having the energy to perform defensive duties,,,thats the bottom line - everything else is BS!!! Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Croft doesn''t deserved to be dropped but he really has to start giving us more end product after a run, i was thinking the other day why can''t a cross be put in low or along the floor, Croft always seems to lift it in there either over everybodys head or behind them, would cause some problems if from time to time a low one was put in the area of uncertainty.I really like Bell, nice feet and touch as well as a good deliverer of the ball, however with Hoolahan on the left we have nobody outwide who runs at players with pace so Croft is a must on the right imo

Here We Go 0 Posted October 27, 2008 In my opinion i don''t think the fans were booing Croft but booing the manager for taking him off, people around me thought we should be taking Hoolahoop off instead. But i think Bell might not be at full fitness he was out for two months so i think we should take are time with him, and as we have a Croft that improves with every game, it could be good competition for the both of them. Tim Dawson 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Bell every time !!!!!!
Jimbo_Jet_Set 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Up until the last couple of weeks i would have said Bell too, but Croft has come on leaps and bounds recently. Yes his final ball needs some serious improvement but with Hoolhan coming infield all the time I think Croft gives us important width. I fear that playing Bell might make us too narrow especially with our "nosebleed when over the halfway line" fullbacks
Paul Spector 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Croft on the right and Bell in the middle/on the left for me. A middle four or Croft, Clingan, Hoolahan and Bell would have a little bit of everything.
