silver fox 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Having said that he bought him primarily for his defensive capabilities is Worthy going to play Doherty alongside Charlton in the centre of defence? If he does then maybe the line up for Wed might be:GreenHelveg Doherty Charlton DruryMcVeigh Holt Francis BentleyMcKenzie HuckerbySubs. Ward Fleming Jonson Brennan Jarvis
Kent Canary 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Holt for Safri?
Pyro Pete 1,889 Posted August 22, 2004 You could be right there silver fox. While Fleming has played well overall in the past two games, for all three goals we have conceded so far it has been Fleming who has been caught out of position at the back. I don''t want to be too harsh as it''s early days, but how much space was Smith in when he nodded on for Utd''s first goal yesterday? Same for the second. A bit of pressure makes a big difference. Utd have paid top dollar for Smith for a reason so, as I say, I can''t be too critical at this stage. But in the Premiership we will be meeting top strikers every week and the least our defence can do is keep tight to them and put them under pressure - Henry excepted maybe! On the positive side Charlton has been a big plus so far for me.

Braintree canary 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Why put Johannsen striaght in. If he''s as bad as the other Charlton reject they can keep him !

no1canary 0 Posted August 22, 2004 yes he scored a few goals but im sad to say that he is not more than a 1st division player. and i can''t see how anyone could see any different. the only reason he is playing is because we haven''t got in a replacement yet. even if we don''t get in another striker by wednesday, i''m pretty sure doherty will take his place. nycanary 1 Posted August 22, 2004 i dont htink NW will put any new signing straight in. always off the benchi think the potential only change he will make for newcastle is mcveigh in for jonson. apart from that, unchanged.
