We8wba, I have stuck up for you in the past - as I feel it''s refreshing for other fans to come on here and post. However I do have to question your assumption that your fans are the fine people you suppose.

Three times I have been to Molineux in the recent past (ie beyond the 70s and 80s. First time we won (2-0 under Martin O''Neill), we came out - we were a family group plus friends and no men under 30 and had knives stuck in front of us. I had my children with me, at the time both of school age. Nice!! We were rescued by the Police on that occasion and escorted to our cars. No stickers on car, no colours worn by anyone. They were waiting for us (and no doubt others) at the away exits.

Second time we lost - and were set upon just before the famed underpass. Again no colours - though a little girl and her grandfather were attacked crossing the road - they had scarves on. We went on the supporter coach on that occasion and people were being stoned getting on it!

Third and last time - play off semi, we were subjected to coins thrown onto us by home fans above us. This after my water bottle was taken away from me at the entrance by over zealous stewards. How ironic that your fans were allowed in with stuff they could throw at us. I wrote to your CE after the event but didn''t get a response. No surprise.

After the game (we lost but still made the play offs you will remember) we were unable to celebrate as yet again there were a crowd of your fans waiting for us at the exits. Police looked on as they subjected several people to abuse.

As a result of this I will never visit your ground again. It''s not safe to do so. I may point out I am a middle aged woman who takes responsibility for the safety of my children extremely seriously. I have never incited anything and have been to countless other away fixtures in over 30 years of supporting Norwich City. Your ground is definitely the worst.

I''ve not been to Wolves yet though I''m planning on making the journey this season, but I''ve been told by countless people that it is rough and one of the genuine places that you''ll feel unsafe, someone I knew went there with Derby County and on the way back to his car he got set upon and beaten to the ground, he was wearing his Derby shirt but he was quietly walking to his car. We8Wba you may not think so but Wolves has one of the worst reputations, if not the worst reputation in our league for violence at football, like I said I haven''t been yet but I am going this year so I''ll see what happens, believe its a night game as well this year, usually more dangerous than day games as well I''ve always found!

sorry to hear about your bad incidents and obviously i cant comment on them on a postive not

i do know police at wolves have upped in recent years mainly due to all derbies we get nowdays and cardiff incident the other season. i personally find when travelling with your clubs official coaches is that if you go to ground like cardiff, leeds, wolves, stoke you tend to have more police protecting you and you generally in much safer hands than say you went to a ...... plymouth. the fans above you would only lob stuff at away fans if they have been goaded. i know that for fact! but im not saying its right they do that.

also away supporters are now section on side pitch instead sharing behind the goal. this also for police protection

  • you can wear club colours to the game as long you not gobby kind person who gets pinpointed in crowd shouting abuse, or come out shouting your mouth
  • if unsure on colours just wear zip jacket over the top for on the way out
  • i wouldnt recommend drinking in city centre, may not just be a drunken rowdy wolves fan but general pikeys in the city to
  • if driving id park it around west park 5mins walk, all people walking up are families, free parking, away fans park there and i even walked up with city fan last year showing him which way to go around the ground to away section
  • if you want to have beer, go to goalpost opposite asda which accepts away supporters (went their last season with my mate who supports plymouth and he was in his colours) or just pay the extra few pence and have safe beer or two under neath
  • if for some reason you have to go through city (if got train in) dont walk under the underpass alone! if i was you id rather walk up the steps and cross the road which may take you 2mins but you be much safer
  • for some reason an idiot gives you abuse outside just bite your lip and dont back chat - although your pretty safe coming out now from away end

you have no trouble if you come to molinuex i wouldnt of thought unless you was doing some pretty dumb things to cause it

I went to the Leeds game at Elland Rd, Not knowing We had sold our allocation, so ended yp sitting with the home Pikeys! I had my top zipped up and kept quiet, it can be done should you be sensible, no cheering even when hooooozey scored! Also i think the northern accent helped!

Im starting to feel slighlty uncomfortable going away now, ive always worn the shirt, even over a jumper if cold.  but now im 22 im at the age where i could be beat up, where as before i felt like id never get any trouble because i was a child. Also because me and the old man are from ''up north'' were not getting off a bus with a group of people, so often have long walks on our own, had some gobby little shit trying to start trouble at Hull last year, 2 hours before the game with no one around.

Also at Derby last year a couple of ''norwich'' cars had been broken inot or vandalised.

Im Going Derby on the 28th and Burnley on the 1st (with Burnley fans - may go in the away end on my own)

Also going to 2 Man United Games (QPR and Sunderland)

And going to Stamford Bridge with Burnley fans - Dont know if ive been watching too much Green Street but im not looking forward to this especially as my mate''s mates are northern idiots and destroyed their own town a couple of years ago, when beat by Blackburn.

Coming to the point where its best to play safe, zip up the top and try and blend in, not worth a ''kick in'' or car smashed up for showing the shirt. Its not even rivalary between clubs, its modern society and the scum with live with.

We8, while I appreciate you are trying to be helpful to Ellis, I hope you will retract the last sentence you made.

As you have seen above, I have visited your ground and on each occasion I have experienced violence, and seen it happen to others. I did not shout my mouth off, I did not wear colours and didn''t incite anything. I am just a City fan travelling with family and friends to a game, either in our own car and on official match travel. You will have to forgive me if after reading your post I find it difficult to change my mind about your club''s fans.

Leeds, Wolves, Birmingham and Cardiif. Far and away the worst for primitive behaviour. And they would think that something to be proud of if you told them....

Wolves is an unpleasant place to go, odd as Albion is ok. I have a bit of history with Wolves myself which I will not bore you with in detail. The very first time I went there was in 1979, and I went with 2 Wolves fans, enjoyed the 1 -1 draw, and a splendid Kevin Bond equaliser, wearing even more splendid ALL White stripe; and as I was walking to the Car after the game, chatting away happily, some bloke came out of the blue, and said ''I don''t like the way you speak''. Never forgot that odd comment, and never really sure if it was the content of my words or my undoubtedly rather public school accent. Anyway I got out ok but guy was really menacing for a while. More worryingly a friend of a friend, got badly beaten up in that infamous under-pass after watching Swindon in the 90''s. What really upset me was he was a big gentle guy, who happened to be very seriously ill at the time with an incurable disease.

This is incorrect. I too was at the game and there was no goading to warrant what the Wolves fans were throwing at us that night. I was a first hand observer of the idiotic behaviour of some of your fans outside the ground - I wasn''t looking for it either just minding my own business walking back to the car. I also witnessed a hard man picking on a guy as he tried to put his two young boys in the car. Fortunately, there were enough Norwich fans around to quiten this guy down. You speak to any Norwich fan that went that night and you will hear very similar stories.

This game is why we now only hate Wolves and Ipswich. It too was my last ever visit to Molineux.

I too was at Molyneux on play-off night and it was really scary. '' Luckily '' I was behind the goal so only had to put up with the coin snipers but those unfortunate to be along the touchline were easy prey for the thugs above them. All manner of things were thrown down, including bags of urine. I cannot agree, as we8wba maintains, that Norwich fans must have '' goaded '' the Wolves morons.

You would hardly expect the atmosphere to be convivial on such a night when the stakes were so high but there was real menace in the air. Perhaps the most depressing thing about what has become of what was once a fine old club is the fact that some of their supporters still  think it''s OK to attack old and/or defenceless away fans. Things have moved on from 1970''s and 80''s but going to Wolverhampton feels like going through a time warp.....

In retrospect I was pleased that Wolves missed out on the Play-Offs by only one goal last season. We managed to get to the Play -Offs by scoring just one more goal than the team who finished in 7th place. Nice one. That said I won''t be too upset if Wolves do get back to the Premiership this time round..........at least we''ll have one season without their '' fair-minded '' fans.

How do the fans get away with all of this violence and intimidation at Wolves?  I thought there had been major crackdowns on this type of behaviour???

After reading some of the posts on here its almost as if the police stood by and watched and so long as no-one was getting murdered they didn''t care too much.  There mustn''t be much CCTV round the ground or am I just being naive, are hooligans on the comeback?  Did they ever really go away?[*-)]

Why do away fans get escorted from the ground if all they are doing is celebrating a goal?  Is it as much for their own safety as anything else and also to try and stop something from kicking off?

I sat with the Sunderland fans at their ground (the year we got promoted), behind the goal adjacent to our fans, after the game me and my dad moved across to celebrate the Championship with our fans, was no hassle whatsoever, but I don''t suppose you would really expect any at Sunderland.  Happy, happy memories just thinking about that.[:D]

What would be brave.

Ipswich fan in colours sitting in the Barclay?

Celtic fan wearing colours sitting with Rangers fans and vice versa?

Probably some leagues abroad perhaps places like Turkey etc, you may get more than just beaten up if you are an away fan wearing colours in home section.

I too was at Wolves for the play off semi final.  I was in the lower tier along the side of the pitch and was spat on, coined and had the old classic "you''re gonna get your throat slit" gesture made towards me during the match from the Wolves nitwits in the upper tier.  After the game, I made my way back to Wolverhampton rail station (I had parked at Birmingham international and got the train in).  After dodging a hoard of fat middle aged Wolves bell ends outside the away exit (one of which brandished a knife at me) the police waved us in a direction completely the opposite way to the train station.  We were then lost, walking down a pitch black  surrounded by Wolves thugs with hoods up and scarves acrooss their faces.  Thank god I didnt have colours on, I dread to think what would have happened.  We managed to find the station in the end, but I know of 5 people who got a good kick in that night.  Wolves are scum.

the thing is the majority of you commenting on the same experience, others have happend yes. but what is that fan who got punched saturday going say about your support? surely he think "f*****g hell not going there again", all im saying is loads away supporters come and go every week and no major incidents happen! also as mentioned policing/stewarding has changed and more in control as mentioned this due to all derbies we played last few years forest, leicester, stoke, wba, brum, coventry, derby and high intense atmosphere in bristol, sheff, cardiff. especially after cardiff incident 2yrs ago im 10000% sure wolves and the police aim for that never to happen again or let it get to that stage
