Thecanaryfan 0 Posted September 30, 2008 "What is important and what we didn''t do at Barnsley is that when we get the ball we retain it and make them chase us. We don''t have a long-ball game to fall back on and I don''t want us playing like that anyway."Sibierski obviously isnt a target man in Roeders eyes, despite the fact that practically all of Marshalls goal kicks were directed at him at Barnsley. The fact that it is now nearly a year since Roeder took charge and we still have no height in the team might exlain why we continually run out of ideas on the pitch. Also, if Roeder doesnt want us playing long ball why have we adopted that very tactic several times already this season? Not that I disagree with the long ball game of course but seems a strange choice of words imo. Anyway, lets hope the first sentance materialises tonight. Shaun Tilly Lace 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Glenn does tend to come out with some drivel at times, like many of his peers in the game. It''s best not to listen to football managers mindless prattlings for too long as it can cause serious ossification of the brain. I should know; I used to have six brain cells, now I have only two! The Chirp 0 Posted September 30, 2008 often long ball is played in the last third of our games as the players are too tired to continue with the short passes... Goal kicks are bound to be aimed at sibi as he''s the tallest player we have... i understand the frustration but i don''t think he''s talking rubbish etc... Doesn''t the fact that they''ve done this under many different managers and coaches, all of whom have said that they want the players to pass the ball through midfield, tell you that it''s nothing whatever to do with anyone except the players? lucky green trainers 0 Posted September 30, 2008 if your midfield go missing, then all the back 4 and marshy have in the locker is a big hoof upfield...
