Mister Chops 7 Posted September 30, 2008
http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/full_article.asp?i=4162 This is good news.
It was ludicrous of them to close the door in the first place - "it has to be a local investor." Why? Randy Lerner (great porn name, that one) has shown you don''t have to be from the local area to appreciate the importance of the club, and nobody was ever going to see little old Norwich City as a Manchester United or Liverpool-style cash cow for milking. Kathy 733 Posted September 30, 2008 I wonder you know if they already have one lined up and they thought they would get in first before us lot started saying ''But you said....................''
Syteanric 1 Posted September 30, 2008 i think it was more that perhaps they had promised the Turners the club when they said that.. now though things are different and they need all the help they can get.... just my opinion.jas :)

There have been so many disappointments you tend to get philosophical about these things. I just think they can be a crafty lot at times and in the light of recent PR disasters, it crossed my mind they might want to prepare the ground first. PurpleCanary 5,556 Posted September 30, 2008 If this is preparing the ground (which is what it looks like) then the process was started on September 18th by Neil Doncaster with his little remarked upon comment:"We are talking to everyone who is calling us and expressing an interest in getting involved, whatever their background, NATIONALITY [my emphasis] or apparent intentions for the Club - we owe that to supporters." First Wizard 0 Posted September 30, 2008 It is naive at least to suggest, or believe, that Munby has any real say in the boardroom... what SHE wants she gets!.
shortfatb 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Munby opens the door to a foreign investor. How did they know where he lived and that he would be in? Hasn''t he got a butler to open the door like Poirot? Were they swarthy? It''s typical of this board that they don''t give us fans the answers to the really big questions.
The Fish Seller 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Another myfootballwriter article another unsubstantiated dig at Peter Cullum.Tolerating the rest of the article which is in the standard opinion expressed as fact manner popular on that site it now appears that Rick Waghorn isn''t the only one desperately reaching out for a straw to clutch.
KeelansGlove 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Sounds like a desperate plea to show Mr Cullum that he might not be the only game in town, even if he is likely to be the best fit. They either want him to come to the table with enough cash for Delia to get out without a significant loss or are trying to drum up some dodgy foreign investor that they can stin as the better option. GJP 79 Posted September 30, 2008 Don''t care where the money comes from as long as there is lots of it.At least enough to sign Thierry Henry from Barca in January.
lucky green trainers 0 Posted September 30, 2008 its clear that in the current credit crunch, only cash rich buyers can afford to buy a club like NCFC - and so i''m pleased to see mumby stating the obvious - that the door is open to the super-primes, cos only they have the necessary dosh...there is little risk to their involvement either, cos NCFC has no purpose other than being a footy club or assets that are not connected to this aim,,,and so if a super rich buyer steps forward, its likely they will want NCFC to be successful, and that means getting NCFC into the prem...else why buy the club??? what other motivation is there in buying a footy club???the above rationale is the only ''fence'' that is applicable in the current economic circumstances - the days of local businessmen like chase and south are long gone, and now even local millionaires like the smiths are finding the going tough,,,so the sooner the club can be sold to genuine speculative investors the better...but how much is the club worth now??? ashby has cut the amount he wants for newcastle from £450m to £280m - yeah right,,,no chance...but with the turners going, NCFC look more and more vulnerable,,,i regret to say in order to sell - delia may have to sell lower than she would like to,,,and before xmas too, cos we need more finance by the jan window to keep the squad together,,,make no mistake///

However I am fast losing that little glimmer of hope. You are right about the disappointments Kathy, and I have to say we fans deserve so much better.

In the current volatile financial/insurance market, changing daily as all know, no one knows whether Mr Cullum is or will be a winner or a loser in this. That might also affect his situation either way.
Mello Yello 2,289 Posted September 30, 2008 The NCFC board of Directionless must have altered the criteria for proposed future investors.....and extended the catchment area to the ''outer ring road''.....Don''t cum much more furren than that!
Nobodys Perfect 0 Posted September 30, 2008 My pointless pennyworth is this. There''s so little info coming out of CR that you have to assume that there really IS nothing to report, OR, that there is plenty, but nobody can leak it yet while negotiations are ongoing. My heart hopes it''s the latter, but sadly I think it''s the former.
