Sing Up The South Stand 0 Posted September 14, 2008 Difference is though, after losing they won their next three games, we only drew ours this season.

Tim Allman 1 Posted September 14, 2008
they lost on the first day then went unbeaten throughout the rest of the season.... are we capable of that? Come on you yellows
As I recall Reading lost at home to Plymouth on the first day of the season, and the next match they lost was a televised game at Luton, but it was well into the season by then. When we played them at Madjad it was on 31st Jan and we had just signed Earnie. We lost very badly that evening. It was 4-0 and could have been twice as many. Buncey 1 Posted September 14, 2008 Funny you posted this CT. I read an economics/sports blog that had a recent article about what effect winning or losing the first game of the season has. Ironically it has no effect at all (this is for NFL mind and not football) but looking back at our last 10 seasons, it again has no correlation. Infact apart from our promotion season and the season before last, there is no correlation between winning and having a good season (top 12) or losing and having a bad season (bottom 12). I don''t think it helps that most commonly we are away and play out a draw. So next season will probably be Stoke away and a score draw.... [:)]

Either way, cracking performance.
