Board Apologists - where are you now?

Recommended Posts

To all the board apologists and fence sitters out there, I hope that at last the message has sunk home what many posters having been saying for years on this message board, yet you have failed to accept.

That is Delia and her husband just do not have the managerial ability to run a sandwich shop, let alone a football club.

They turn their noses up at 20 million quid from Britain’s 40th richest man, in the vain and hopeless belief that the Turners will dig them out of a hole. One might ask on which planet they have been living for the past few years if they were not aware that the so-called backers business empire was in the sub-prime mortgage sector at a time when the sub-prime market has collapsed globally, bankrupting financial institutions such as Northern Rock in the process.

Did our main shareholders ever stop to consider that all might not be well in the Turner’s backyard when they cocked a snoot at Cullum? With nothing but a verbal promise of more financial backing from the owners of Central Trust they seem to be having another Rosenborg moment. Yet this time it is not the fate of where a thirty-year old Norwegian might end up, but that the whole future of our club is now hanging in the balance.

They don’t seem to have a clue what is happening in the world around them.

They hung on, thinking they could turn a 4.3 million investment into a 9.6 million return. They laid down strict and narrow rules on who could or who could not invest in the club. They said one thing in public and then went and did the opposite in private. Delia has milked the adulation of her supporters for all it is worth and but failed to pay the going rate. Like a King Canute they command the sea to go back while the waves curl around their ears. Go check out the Norfolk Show interview, the last of Our lady’s public utterances. She seems totally bewildered by the questioning, like somebody who has not just lost the plot, but never understood it in the first place.

The board apologists have played a part in all of this sorry mess. By your continual finding some excuse for her mistakes, by pandering to the ‘celebrity-knows-best’ attitude, by living in denial about what is happening at the club, even when evidence such as the annual accounts is put before you, you have played your part in allowing the club to come to this sorry state of affairs.

What a load of old cobblers.peoples opinions on here count for nothing at board room level, and to even assume so shows an over inflated sense of our own importance.

Pretty sure we''re all ''Norwich fans'' here, but, y''know, don''t let stop you seperating fans into convenient groups in order to continue spreading disharmony at a time when we need to pull together.

Pointless little man.

Another first poster not letting the facts get in the way of some good prejudices.

The Smith family has made mistakes and is in difficulty now and it is shame that you chose to discuss the half truths and urban myths rather than the real issues.

It seems that a deal was done in good faith on all sides with the Turners and has fallen through.  Most of the rest of what you say is opinion (to which you are entitled but with which I disagree) or simply wrong (for which there is no excuse)

To all the board apologists and fence sitters out there, I hope that at last the message has sunk home what many posters having been saying for years on this message board, yet you have failed to accept.

That is Delia and her husband just do not have the managerial ability to run a sandwich shop, let alone a football club. Delia  and MWJ''s have been majority shareholders for the best part of 11 years...

I thought we had established that Cullum actually hadn''t made an offer...

Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.

They don’t seem to have a clue what is happening in the world around them. That''s your perception and nobody can do anything to change that it would seem...

IF your numbers are correct, which I doubt, that is still only 5.3 million pound profit, over 11 years and then divided equally between MWJ and Delia that is less than 250k profit per year, there are far more profitable ventures people with money can get involved with. The rest of the paragraph is again your perception although at teh Norfolk show she might have been a little tipsy...

There are always two sides to the coin. How about when presented with the annual accounts board haters still say Delia is siphoning of the cclub''s cash to her own Swiss bank account? I certainly don''t think celebrities know best, but I would rather have somebody who cares about our club as majority shareholders than a couple of pornographers...

I still never really understood exactly what a board apologist was? I just took it as something all the ''Whining Crew'' banded around (Smudge, Cluck, Wiz et al)  so didn''t really pay much attention to it (same with their  posts). Could someone clarify? I looked it up on t''internet and didn''t get anywhere either. [*-)]

dividing fans up at times like this is not healthy , until we have an elected member on the board who can voice our feelings we should just unite around the guys on the pitch, if not members of the board.

I''m afraid that most of the people you seek to categorise as "board apologists" are nothing of the sort. What they actually are are fans who love the club and don''t want to see it fall apart.History shows that its one thing to tear down one regime and another to put something viable and endurable in its place.Whatever the failings of the current board, and I am not suggesting that they don''t have a number of them, they are a better alternative than anarchy. If you want to force the board out you have to have a viable replacement. So where is it? I find it a bit rich that people who have complacently trusted in Cullum as the saviour all summer are now having a go at their fellow supporters when the club is in trouble and the Messiah can''t be seen for dust.We are all in this together. If the club suffers,so do we,so let''s put the hobby horses away.

Hello one right here.

I will not hang my heaed in shame, as i support my club, through the thick and thin. i will not be seen abusing parts of it and supporting others. yes i agree it may be time for Delia and co to move on, but they have done some good here along with the bad. And maybe a fresh head is what we need

I will always support The whole of norwich city, and i will continue to support what may come. And if and when Delia leaves, we should say thank-you for what she has done for the club, notr just boo and abuse her, liek most people on here think is appropriate to do.

I was made aware late last night that they (The Turners) were extremely upset by the refusal to bring PC on board and that their patience ran out with Delia and MWJ''s intransigence. This guy also said to expect an appearance in the near future of Andrew and Anthea riding in on PC''s coat-tails having combined forces. As I said before, my pal is very well connected but even he is hearing lots of confusing stories from within… It all clouds the water doesn''t it?
