RESERVES

Recommended Posts

Just got back from watching the first half and a bit of the second half of the reserves, several points that I would like to put to GR.

What was you drinking when you signed Korey Smith? I was expecting something special as he was signed after just one season as a scholar, can''t pass, can''t tackle, out of possition several times.

Did you have the same drink when you decided to give Eagles a new contract? enough said

And the same for Renton, overweight, slow and unless the ball comes directly to him he runs about spitting his dummy out and falling over. another Chris Martin.

Going behind to another amateur team brilliant! Renton has scored the equalizer and as I was leaving a young sub has put us in front, papering over the cracks. What a joke

Where have the decent players that were here last year gone, Daley, Cooper, Mathews, O''Toole and Cave Brown. The person who is in charge of the reserves and youth should have been sacked as they cannot spot decent players.

[/quote]Bit harsh on Renton dont you think? out for nearly a year remember, and he scored a goal which is what strikers are on the pitch to do. If you did no exercise for a year and consumed the number of calories that footballers consume then your body fat doesnt simply dissappear when the doctor says you can start training and playing again. Agree about Eagle, but Korey Smith is very young remember. To much pressure on the 17 year olds, when the pressure should be on the board and the first team. I would concern yourself more that a 33 year old striker in the first team cant score.

I would rather look to the future than look at 33 year old strikers, It is plain to see that we have no money and the youth is our future. I just wonder what the big rush was to sign a player that had another years scholarship left to run.

for me the eagle, spillane and martin and only retained due to the extremely small size of the squad in case things got really scary with injuries;  cheap to keep and use if needed but recognising that they are simply not really up to what we need

i turned up planning to see 60 mins or so, but went at half time...it wasn''t good to watch, and sure - agreed it did the boys some good to play against men, but shallwe say there were plenty of jiucy looking sliding tackles going in from the pakefield men, that if connected, could have done some damage!!!overall, not as impressed with new goalie as i was with gilks...also, to an extent agreed with earlier comments about renton - who looked immobile, for one reason or another -  but  had more of a threat than the no 10 - henderson playing alongside him up front...shot tamely when should''ve scored, and knew it...centre midfield duo didn''t look upto dominating, while chadders on the wing showed glimpses of what he''s about...and eagle is still too lightweight, despite extra training over the summer apparently - mind you, he''s capable of putting some good looking balls in, however -  many of his crosses first half didn''t get over the first defender which was frustrating - like watching a  fozzy corner it was!!!lappin did a good job at left back, but you would''t fancy him against a decent champs winger...lets hope the spurs loanees never has cause to turn out for city - he''d struggle imo...i hope stephenson was right about an improved 2nd half, but on this showing, many of our ''reserves'' would struggle to get into the first team as a right, and be capable of a good showing...
