Wanted: Pace (as well as height)

Recommended Posts

Maybe we could sign Usain Bolt? 6ft 5in tall, and fairly quick by all accounts.I was pleased to see the passing and control by our lads yesterday - a big improvement on last season. But our inability to get in behind defences was painfully obvious. Leaving the players attempting to walk it in with short passes.Yes, you can play off a big guy - as Portsmouth did to great effect with Crouch yesterday. But if Roeder can bring in some pace too, it gives those midfielders who are capable of picking out a runner a whole new set of options. One possible answer with our current lot is to use overlapping full backs more. Otsemobor and Bertrand both have pace to burn. But it does require the wide players to pass it to them when they go by (take note, Pattison and Hoolahan!).
