norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted September 1, 2008 that we are more in sh it financially than even some of the ''pessimists'' on here think.I wouldn''t be suprised to see the money from Shacks disappear into the depths of the CR black hole.It is really worrying, not that I think we will, but if we were to get promoted, we would need to buy shed loads of players, and we would not do that. You can see it now, we would be going into the first game of the Prem season with a team half filled with loans, and that would only result in one thing. Is there actually anything to look forward to anymore? whoareyou? 0 Posted September 1, 2008 All these loan players will see us come unstuck in a big way eventually. Had we been relegated last season, by the time the loan players had been let go we would not have had much of a team left and who would have wanted to sign for us full-time in Div 1? SnakepitCanary 0 Posted September 1, 2008 I''m also getting the feeling that we are in serious trouble. If we have to rely on 7 loan players for this season, imagine what it will be like next season!
city4eva 242 Posted September 1, 2008 All the optomists on here keep telling us"we are rebuilding"..you dont rebuild, with a team full of loaness that have to be replaced every year, as someone else said what is there to look forward to this season.

No-one left to sell of any worth (apart from Hoolahan maybe) and the loans will have all gone back by then. This had better lead to a certain billionnaire buying us for a severely reduced sum. Time to go Delia 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Stoke and Hull are bidding for players around the £5 - £7 million mark, could anybody really see us spending that sort of money on promotion , maybe we are better off staying where we are .

Poorer Championship sides and lower league sides will only survive if they become effectively the ''academies'' for the so called ''big'' clubs. Delia and co. (like them or loathe them!) will keep us in the poorer category for the best reasons, they are NCFC people, and cautiously conservative in their guardianship of the club. They wont sell out to a future of uncertainty at the hands of speculators...therefore using Glen''s influence and connections to pick up the ''scraps'' and ''babes'' from the top table of the game is no doubt very good in their eyes. If the football bubble bursts we will be eternally grateful for their caution BUT for the time being their are going to be some very frustrated and unhappy Canaries out there, particularly I suggest amongst the younger section. The old''uns amongst us, whilst wishing for a return to more successful eras, will probably be more philosophical about the current situation...AND THEN SCREAM. Branston Pickle 4,149 Posted September 2, 2008
All the optomists on here keep telling us"we are rebuilding"..you dont rebuild, with a team full of loaness that have to be replaced every year, as someone else said what is there to look forward to this season.
OK then perhaps you can tell me how you can sign 13 good players on a budget without resorting to loans? If you want to make progress sometimes it has to be a gradual thing. There is a logic that I am presuming we are following. If you take now as Year 0, when all the crap was got rid of after last season (which had to be done), we needed rather a lot of players. We have signed a mixture of permanents and loans; those who are permanent will be here next season, so all you theoretically need to replace next Summer is those here on loan - it follows there should be fewer new faces needed, with a mixture of loans and perms again, but fewer of each. It gradually reduces to a point where you rely just on odd loans here and there, as per most other sides. IMO that sort of strategy is what was being talked about when they were talking of 3 year plans earlier in the Summer.Yes, it could go pear-shaped (ie 19th or lower), but it could also go ok (13th-18th, well (7th-12th), or very well (ie top 6). There''s no particular reason to assume the worst of 4 outcomes is that more likely than the others, unless you are particularly pessimistic. Indeed, if the loans are of any calibre, surely that is the least likely outcome.
