Oh dear, oh dear lol

I particularly love this comment......

Roeder told the London Evening Standard: "You don''t get credibility by publicly criticising your players. [:^)]

the attributes of the manager of the club can be wide and varied but perhaps the ability to manage his players, to make them understand how to play how he wants, treat them like his children as such.

Man-Management - Good children are taught the rules at home, with good discipline and a consistent message from the ''father'' figure. We all cringe at parents scolding their children in public because we know its poor parenting to let these situations get to this stage. The child only becomes resentful when scolded in public due to the embarrassment.

Planning - know what you want and what you''ll need to be a success. It was obvious that without a more physical frontline player in this league things were always going to be difficult. Rather than blame other people for broken promises after 200+ days of planning for life without Dion, get that position sorted a.s.a.p

Track record or Unspotted Gem - Roeder is neither a gem just unearthed and has a shocking track record. Boothroyd / Grayson / Worthington (bar six months at Blackpool) were al largely untested. sometimes it works and sometimes not( Grant). But a shocking track record inclding not just mediocrity but FAILURE should never have been considered.

Paul Ince / Paul Simpson etc have good pedigree and were available - One a gem the other a proven track record of PROMOTIONS.

I''ll judge the man by his results.  I don''t like how he throws players under the bus to the media, but sometimes it works. He has a history of losing locker rooms his 2nd year on the job, and I''m worried.  If he has us in another relegation battle, I''ll blame Roeder, not the board.  The board might not finance him enough to get us into the Premiership, but if we''re 18-20th for a good part of the season, I''ll blame Roeder. We''re a mid-table championship side and any less isn''t the fault of the board.  I have my fingers crossed, though.  But I''m not a fan of seeing players slagged in the media, in general.

You really are going out of your way to slag him off aren''t you rocky? I don''t like his public criticisms of certain players anymore than what you do, but was it really worth starting another thread over? Give it a rest FFS!

What''s with the Roeder bashing? Didn''t he just keep us up last year? Aren''t we playing better football now than for many years? Would Ince/Simpson kept us up? Would they have got a Ched Evans, Ryan Bertrand? How does the Newcastle situation apply to us now in little ol Norwich? We are hardly likely to come up against any genius international managers any time soon.

Strange one this, I agree with some of your points and I couldn''t disagree more with others!!

I''m not a fan of slagging players off but equally I don''t believe in the Worthy way of never publically slating players (it didn''t stop him totally losing the dressing room did it!). Lets be honest most England fans would love to see Capello come out and let rip at some of the overpaid primadonna''s currently wearing England shirts.

Yes we should have got in a target man but if Roeder has decided on Iversen then anyone else may be his 2nd, 3rd or even 10th choice and therefore he may not get the best out of a player he didn''t desperately want.

To say Roeder has a shocking track record is a tad harsh in my view. He is one of only a handful of English Managers who can say that they have twice managed a team into the prem Top 7 (Keegan, Allardyce & Robson also spring to mind). OK he got West Ham relegated but they went down with a record points total and for much of that season he must have been unwell and not quite himself. As for Newcastle, well the likes of Dalglish, Guillit, Souness and Allardyce have failed pretty miserably in that job.

After a great first full season Boothroyd has been disappointing and it could be argued that his record is no better than Worthy who many on this message board will say is one of the worst managers you will ever find (not something I would state). I assume you are referring to the Paul Simpson sacked by Preston last year after getting them into a similar position that Grant got us? As for Ince, well one suspects he was always looking to the prem for his next move.

Yes, Roeder''s second season syndrome may strike. Yes, he is a rather dour person. But he rescued this club from a seemingly hopeless position last November and in my view he has brought in some decent players. If the majority of them bed in OK (and that will take time) then we should have a decent season.

For me Roeder was probably the best man we could have got last November.
