Roeder - "I have another striker coming in"

Recommended Posts

Sorry Wiz, I''m only a newbie here and can''t claim your extensive knowledge and insight into the team and the players so I would be interested to hear from what you saw at Coventry on Saturday which players you consider are poor signings ?
Apart from Hoolihan my friend, I don''t rate one of them.[:S]
I believe what he meant to say, YY, is ''sorry but I didn''t go the away fixture on Saturday, so feel unqualified to offer a valid opinion on the performances of any of our players during said match''.
So if you dont go to the game you cant have an opinion of the players performances? I listened on the radio and I got a pretty good grasp of how each Norwich player performed individually. I agree that having first hand sight of the game would improve the validity of someones opinion but it doesnt mean that you have no voice because you werent at the game.

If you read the post that Wiz was ''responding'' to (and I use that term in the widest possible sense) the question was, and I quote, ''I would be interested to hear from what you saw at Coventry on Saturday which players you consider were poor signings''. Now, TFC, think about it and Wiz''s answer, do you not see that he hadn''t answered the question?

And I assume that you will now answer with some inspired retort about me being petty. And, yes, I was being petty, partly for a laugh and partly to point out that whenever Wiz is challenged on any of his ''stances'' he simply ignores what he has been asked if it doesn''t fit with his agenda.

And, actually, yes I do think that my opinion of Saturday''s performance is less valid than those that were at the game because all I had to go on were Goreham and Adams'' commentary. Surely that''s just really obvious common sense isn''t it? If not, I''d be very interested for you to enlighten me as to why it isn''t. [:)]

Well said MacD. It isn''t a case of being a better fan, I am at Uni up North

so struggle to get to home games, so obviously, my views on

performance, players etc. will be less informed than people who go to

more games than me.Of course you can have an opinion on the

side regardless, but surely if someone who was at a game tells you that

an individual played well, you would do well to believe them, rather

than stick to your guns with preconceptions?OTBC

I am left only to assume that Wiz is an Ipswich fan, attempting to wind everyone on the board up!! I''m pretty new here, but I can tell from these inane ramblings that he has no clue, or faith, in matters regarding Norwich City. I''m off to watch us play MK Dons tomorrow and I for one will be cheering my heart out. We''ll probably put a second rate team out due to the "knocks" picked up at the weekend, but as supporters we should be getting behind the boys. Not lambasting new players or GR''s choice of player. I think he''s made some acute signings with the money he has (or hasn''t) got. Would like to see Semmy back in the side, but if Omozusi can start to use his more attacking sensibilities he''ll be great for us this season. In all, it''s is entirely fair to say that our side looks a heck of a lot better than the one GR inherited. He''s a proper manager, with proper contacts in football. I also agree with the above assesment of JK. He looks ready for the fight and if we can keep that troublesome knee in check, you''ll be thinking "Martin who....???"For god''s sake!! Coventry are one of our bogie teams anyhow, the boys haven''t played much pre season football. Give it time and we''ll be fine. We will sign another striker and as long as he can head a ball, and have a bit of muscle in the oppositions penalty box, we''ll be alright!!

Wiz is far from an Ipsh*t fan and I think I even remember a few

outbursts of positivity from the lad himself over the years.  I

see his decline into this bitter madness as on a par with Captain

Ahab''s obsessive pursuit of Moby Dick... Delia is his (and that of a

few others'') white whale...

Dont think your response to me is being petty. However your initial response to Wiz was. Thank you for pointing that out for me. [:D] The thing is Perm you seem to think it is clever to raise these simple inacuracies in Wiz''s post when all he is actually after is a little bit of intelligent debate. You decided to highlight the word ''saw'' in an attempt to look clever and have a laugh at Wiz''s expense? Why bother - Does it make you feel better? And you wonder why he ignores you!!

Oh and by the way I actually agreed with you last para but you seem to have overlooked that. I could enlighten you again if you wish?

If you think that Wiz is simply overlooking these ''inaccuracies'' then I reckon you''re pretty gullible. That''s my point, he deliberately ignores what he has been asked if it doesn''t suit his line of argument, simple as ... God you talk about him as though he is a five year old kid or a 105 year old barely in charge of his faculties. I would suggest that he''s a lot sharper than you make out and, actually, if I was him, I reckon I''d find your tone quite patronising.

And, just to add, in no way whatsoever do I think he is a scummer ... I have absolutely no doubt he is yellow and green to the core!!

Day after day I read the same things. I dont enjoy highlighting such things, I dont do it to score points. In the long term I probaby lose respect by mentioning such things. Im just a bit fed up with it all. Even when hes not about there are threads springing up bad mouthing him. Its everywhere.

I dont think its patronising. Im not trying to fight Wiz''s battles for him. I would do the same for anyone else who is suffering such persecution. True, Wiz can be a miserable sod sometimes, I used to be a bit of a Wiz basher myself when I first joined. But then I realised how pathetic it all seemed. I realised that my time would be better spent trying to reason with the man and to be fair I do in a way now understand his depressed view of the club. Saying this I dont agree with alot of his views.

If people responded to his posts rationally, no matter how irritated they were by what he has said, this MB would only be much more constructive.
That''s the thing. I don''t see myself as a Wiz basher at all, more of a bit of a sparring partner (in the friendliest way possible). And I couldn''t agree more that this MB would be a far poorer place without him, he gets threads going like no other. I''m sure he''ll confirm that I''ve posted concerns for his health when he''s been missing for a while. He seems like a good old boy and I have fun ''arguing/debating'' [;)] with him, that''s the point of this board. I just don''t understand why picking him up on what I consider to be his BS is somehow construed as picking on him. It''s all done in the friendliest spirit and to suggest that he is not capable of giving as good as he gets in kind is, in my opinion, laughable.

And I don''t find him irritating at all, I just like to poke fun when he is obviously evading tricky questions that don''t suit etc etc. Simple as that ... it''s a bit of fun and I can''t believe he doesn''t expect it when you see some of the threads he has started. [:)]

Though you do like sneaking in the odd dig when he''s down?? LOL! It is the others that overstep the insult line that get me vexed. [:)]

Isn''t this thread meant to be about Roeder''s comments regarding a new striker? There have been three pages of mindless slanging and it''s starting to irritate me that if I want to look for intelligent debate or latest information on this messageboard, it never seems to be where you expect it to be, namely when you click on a thread that interests you.

So regarding Roeder''s comments, I think it''s obvious he sees Cureton/Lupoli/Koroma as competing for one place, mainly because he (rightly) realises that playing two of them won''t get enough goals to do significantly better than last season. He is obviously banking on signing someone who will easily score 20 plus in this league. And then to follow his ''two for one'' policy we ought to see another (similar type of) striker arrive before August 31st to give further competition.

Glenn still doesn''t know his best team but I admire the way he only seems to sign a certain type of player - ones with known quality and those admired by respected figures in the game.

A wizzy prediction:

He will be a cheap and cheerful signing, either too young or too old and with zero Championship experience. Its getting too easy now to predict Roeder''s signing types!.

Ok, the pitiful transfer budget is not his fault, but if Roeder had a plair he''d have walked weeks ago![Y]

Adapted from my post on carrowroad.net
Adapted how? Is that your style?

If you really think then I''m genuinely stumped. At what turn of events would you happy? Him ''growing a pair'' and leaving, thus leaving us unstable right at the start of a new campaign, or him bringig in one of these below-par signings which we have no use for? Who do you propose we bring in?

As I''m not a regular I assume I won''t be answered by anybody else, but especially as you''re on such a wind-up I don''t expect you to reply, or have the intelligence to concoct a new retort.

I am almost 100 % certain the striker is Iversen.

GR mentioned the player had a good weekend for his club...................... Iverson scored.................. again.

He has a British wife and has said he wants to end his career in England............ his club have just signed a target man on loan from Burnley

The broken "promise" is that he could go if they got a replacement.............. they have one............ so thats all the pieces of the jigsaw.
