As has been said by many before, was a good call a couple of seasons ago but Leicester fans are distinctly underwhelmed by his recent form !

To my mind clear game play.

Jim Smith 2,608 Posted July 31, 2008 I am disturbed by these reports and hope to god there is no truth in them. I have been very pleased with the types of players Roeder has been going for who in general seem to be technically good, young and mobile. Howard would be a complete departure from that and because of that i have tended to think there is far more truth in the Ameobi and Iversen rumours than in any relating to Steve Howard. if however we start throwing big money at this donkey then it either suggests we have missed out on our other targets or my view of the type of players Roeder wants is wrong! We might just as well play the Doc up front as buy Howard.

Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 31, 2008 Ffs people, its all based on a report in a tabloid... Cuffley doesn''tdo proper journalism - going out into the world, establishing contacts, getting stories from reliable contacts - he just opens up a copy of TheSun or logs onto the Pinkun of a morning... This may seem like somekind of personal crusade, but the "journalism" at Archant is gettingworse and I''m sorry but it winds me up...
Beauseant 0 Posted July 31, 2008 Everything that''s been reported by Archant today has already appeared elsewhere, and I don''t subscribe to the view that the currant bun is an unimpeachable source either.Rather than mindgames by GR I think that its simply a case of lazy journos getting copy out so they can get back to the pub

Salopian 1 Posted July 31, 2008 Let''s hope that this is an end, and Roeder does not up his bid. Howard would be at most a temporary acquisition, perhaps creating a few chances for Curo and Arturo, but he is getting towards the end of his career. I would have thought that we could spend the money more usefully in building up the squad elsewhere, perhaps replacing loan players when they leave. Arturo will be off at the end of the season and Curo will not play for much longer either.Could this have been game playing, with one eye on Ameobi, or would Howard have been extra? I think not. I am slightly disappointed that we considered Howard and thought that Leicester would sell him at a loss, and I certainly would be very disappointed if we paid significantly more than what has been turned down. He has performed very well on a shoestring, and I had hoped that in conserving money GR might have found a better all round player with some potential. ncfcstar 342 Posted July 31, 2008 Agreed, I would not be happy with Howard here, he seems like he has let the couple of good seasons he had go to his head and fallen into complacency. If Roeder sorted him out then yes maybe he would be decent, but at the moment I am not interested in this signing at all.£500,000 is not a bad price, but I would not expect Roeder to be spending anymore. Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 31, 2008 For those of you still going on about this, please read this article and concentrate particularly on the following sentence:One national newspaper claimed City had a £500,000 offer turned downfor Howard, previously linked with a move to Carrow Road this summer.Speculation, nothing more. Cuffley seems to be a master ofgetting everyone talking just by recycling other rumours and puttinghis name on the top. Certainly earns his coin, judging by thisthread.... Barclay_Boy 0 Posted July 31, 2008 Spot the difference? One club is showing ambition and being supported by their Board, and the other one isn''t.
Ian 1,209 Posted July 31, 2008 Broken record...Personally, how have you deduced that the board aren''t supporting Roeder (he has said on several occasions that they have supported him as best they possibly can)? More likely, we simply don''t have any money.Still, don''t let lack of facts get in the way of a good anti-Delia, pro-Cullum rant, eh?
steve b 0 Posted July 31, 2008 i totally agree with that, they haven''t had parachute payments neither do they sell 20,000 season tickets, or have a chief excecutive who says we cant compete with most clubs in our league, especially big clubs like Forest and Burnley. And you think it''s likely that GR is going to come out openly and have a go at the Board do you? You are obviously happy that we cannot seem to raise more than 25% for a stiker compared to a club that was not even good enough to be in our division a couple of years ago. Oh and add the 2.5 mill that newly promoted Notts Forest were able to rustle up for a striker. Still, don''t let the facts get in the way of your Delia love in eh? Grando 336 Posted July 31, 2008 And before someone comes out in defence of the Board with the fact that Bristol''s chairman is rich - in fact 260 on the 2008 Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated fortune of £338 million - just remember that we could have had the man at number 40, with wealth of £1.7 billion, in charge of us.25,000 fans week-in week out. We should be more competitive against other Championship clubs in the transfer market.
