Some more positive stuff for the idiots

Recommended Posts

Nothing says that we are close to administration. The facts are:

  • We are giving long term contracts to International players and premiership managerial teams / coaches, despite competition from other clubs.
  • We are being linked with high value transfers (well, Ameobi) which have not been refuted.
  • We have been linked with other high
  • We have the most lucrative sponsorship deal in the clubs history for the next 3 years.
  • We have replaced the Carrow Road pitch (not essential, done for quality of football), this costs a lot of money for a pitch of that quality.
  • We have used the services of a world renowned fitness company, who were used by Bayern Munich, if we were on the verge of administration then we wouldnt have used any external company.
  • We are taking or have taken the entire first team squad on tours to Sweden and to Devon to stay in top facilities. If we didnt have the resources then we would have played local friendlys.
  • We were the 12th most profitable club in the country over a period of 5 years upto the last published financial year, this is a fact.
  • Delia values the club highly, a club anywhere near administration has no value.

Winner of fantasy post of the day. We have barely 11 players to put out onto the pitch. We have been linked to probably 30+ players over the summer, despite needing about 10, we have signed 2. We face the possibility of Cureton/Martin up front and Shackell/Doherty in defence. We would all love things in the garden to be rosy but they aint, and pretending they are is not in the interest of this football club. Fighting for something better however, is.

We have been linked with about 30 players by the fans! officially we have been linked with that Irish Fella, and Gow, see this is what happens on here, people start posting who we''re allegedly signing, and then they claim there will be a press conference (they have friends in the know you see)....... then nothing happens! Anyway we''re not anywhere near administration otherwise Delia would have sold her shares for pittance because they will become worthless if we went into administration, just doom-mongers doing what they do best.

What do you mean "Officially", what is classified as an ''Official'' Link?

"We have replaced the Carrow Road pitch (not essential, done for quality of football), this costs a lot of money for a pitch of that quality."

LOL.

That could have come straight from one of Neil Doncaster''s columns.

Shame there is no-one to play on it!

My point is that if we were close to bankruptcy, then there would not be a six figure some spent on replacing the specialist pitch, which was in good condition already.

Funny how you take the fact we have some new grass as a sign of our financial wealth.

On the other hand, I take the smallest and worst Norwich City squad in living memory as a sign that things ain''t so good.

Time to quit ''old troat''.

Im not doubting that the squad is small and needs strengthening, I am just doubting any suggestions that we are close to bankruptcy. I am not old, I am also not a trout. I will also point out that ''finding some new grass'' isnt too accurate, since the pitch cost £250k when originally laid and is actually on 50% grass and 50% fibres.

Are you three years old, then? ''Cos there are several worse squads in living memory than the one we''ve got at the moment.

What some people don''t realise is that we haven''t started yet! The season kicks off in 4 weeks not tomorrow.  True, we would prefer to have time to work with our new signings, but it doesn''t seem that it''s possible.

If we have Martin and Curo up front by kick off vs Coventry I''ll run around the Carrow Road pitch naked.  At night.

I''ll agree with all the negative posts if we bring no-one else in before the season starts.  I''m getting as frustrated as anyone, but everyone just take deep breaths and chill.  I am really looking forward to Wes this season and if we can add 2 defenders and 2 strikers who are of the same calibre, I think we may surprise a few this season.  Our own fans as well!

How does having a squad of 23 players equate to having ''barely 11 players to put out onto the pitch''?

Most of the players that left in the summer weren''t used anyway. That''s not to say we don''t need plenty more, but you are being a tad melodramatic...

I agree, even our current strongest eleven looks like a mid table team already, apart from a very good striker and a good centre back, all that we really require is competition. Take Martin out and replace with Sibierski / Rigters and take Doherty out and replace with a Martin Taylor-esque centre back, and suddenly we look a decent team.

D Marshall

J Otsemober

R Bertrand / A Drury

G Doherty

J Shackell

W Hoolohan

L Croft / L Chadwick

M Fotheringham / M Pattison

S Clingan / D Rusell

J Cureton

C Martin

Please explain this...not sure it rings true to me.

Dion and Hux are now gone for a start.

Yeh so are Brellier, Ian Murray, David Strihavka, David Brown, Ryan and Rossi Jarvis and Paul Gallacher.  All sub standard players, the first four of which were signed by Grant.  If in doubt about the calibre of that squad, then refer back to when we were bottom of the league, pre reoder axe weilding.

I am not doubting that a lot of the deadwood has been shipped out - I''m just saying the squad is not better. The departures of Hux, Dion and Lewis in particular means it is worse it my book.

Two or three injuries and we are utterly screwed.

So all we need is no injuries or suspensions, and to sign Taylor and Sibierski.

Damn, why didn''t we think of that earlier?

[/quote]

I said that our squad looks strong, with a decent centre half and a decent striker AND SOME MORE COMPETITION

The players that we have at this club are good players, we just need a few more of them.

Departure of Huckerby and Dion

Arrival of Hoolohan and Clingan, both high calibre players.

I would agree that two or three injuries and we are utterly screwed if we dont sign players in the next three weeks

This detracts completely from my original post anyway, my post was stating that the club is not near adminstration, i didnt state anything about the merits of the existing playing squad or whether or not we need new signings.

I can''t tell you how happy I am that we have the wonderful services of some blokes who once worked for Bayern Munich and the best grass in the Championship. Shame we don''t have the best TEAM in the championship to play on it.

And I absolutely wet my undies at the thought of the team staying in hotels with wonderful facilities in Sweden and Devon.

You are one of Mr Doncaster''s spin monkeys and I claim my £5

TOTAL IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delia & her Board have all but destroyed our Club, with an endless series of crucial mistakes made over a 12 year period of under-achievement. As a result, we have an inept first team squad (which we are naturally struggling to add to) and net debt approaching £20m (despite, Share issues - the ''Chase'' land windfall - Watling''s loan write-off - substantial profits from player trading - & the multi-million riches that go with Premiership football and the parachute income thereafter, etc, etc, etc). Our realistic aim for the coming season is to avoid relegation and administration. The most suitable investor (capable with his vast wealth of providing financial stability & a great chance of on-field success) has recently been shown the door by our current owners, whose arrogance and general ineptness is enough to make us real fans vomit.

I don''t get it.

We were playing nice football from xmas onwards. We had a wobble, but picked up. Our form was still good and the football was the best we''ve seen in years. Yes, we need some players but, contrary to popular misconception, we still have a very talented bunch of players.

We also have one of the best managers in the division.

People need to stop banging on about the past few years. The Premier League has come and gone. We are where we are. Roeder knew what he''d have to play with when he took over.

We need to start afresh from August and get behind the team and the management. Unless we are relegated, no one has the right to say anyone has destroyed the club -because other than two or three good years during Worthy''s reign, we have always been a mid-ish table team.

Quite where some of you get this idea that it was different is beyond sense.
