Lupoli 7 in 34

Recommended Posts

I know I have never seen him play and that Both Arsenal and Fiorentina must have seen something about him but his record of seven goals in 34 games for Derby County doesn''t really inspire me.

I cant see him displacing Curo with those figures.

Not a convincing goals tally but it is his ability to bring other players into games that makes him special. He would bag a hatful in the Championship. I will be over the moon if he signs.

Right:

  • You have got this stat off wikipedia, this is not a reliable source.
  • This statistic does not show how many of his appearances were substitute appearances.
  • He actually only started 20 games in total for Derby.
  • His hat trick in the league cup is not included in the statistic
  • This gives him 10 goals in 20 starts. The same as Ched Evans last year, and a goal every 2 games. Equivalent to 23 goals in a full championship league season (starting every league game)
  • He also has 3 goals in 5 starts for Arsenal.
  • He was only 19 at Derby.

We all need to remember these two things -

1. He is still very very young and is learning all the time

2. He''s been loaned out here and there and struggles to find consistency as a result - once he settles down and has a good season or 2 season long stint in the same place his goal scoring rate will pick up.

Nevertheless - Get him here Roeder ^_^

Wenger doesnt do bad signings!  Also why are we saying he will displace Cureton?  We only have Cureton at the moment so surely he will play alongside.   I would love to see him here... young flamboyant continental style player who is used to playing passing football.  I get the feeling that if Glen gets the 3 or 4 players in the next week then the mood on this board will be very much more positive.....

Gilles Grimandi, Luis Boa Morte, some Arsenal fans might even throw Anelka into that category too....

I personally wouldn''t see £21.8 million pounds profit as a bad signing......

The same Gilles Grimandi that is now working as a scout for Arsenal, and helped achieve the double in his first season, and a second double in his last season? The same Luis Boa Morte that was playing for arsenal at the age of just 20 and is now in his eleventh season in the best league in the world, the same Nicolas Anelka that was bought for 500k and sold for 22.3m after 23 goals in 65 games for Arsenal? Winning the double and the PFA young player of the year award?

I have a mate who has had a season ticket for Arsenal for over 20 years who would disagree with everything that you have just said.

Gilles Grimandi was part of 2 double winning seasons at Arsenal and i believe he still works for the club as a coach/scout or something. I know he may not have played a staring role in either of those seasons but even squad players are crucial when you play so many games and Wenger must think he has something about him to employe him after he finished playing. Boa Morte wasn''t a great signing for Aresnal but again was part of the 98 double winning season and i believe was sold for the same amount as they paid for him. Francis jeffers was a bad signing tho surely?   Stick out tongue [:P]

read 4-4-2 magazines interview with Anelka from 2 months back and then come back to this thread...

Boa Morte has gone on to be a good player too... so has Diego Forlan but that doesnt make them good players years ago does it?

jas :)

It doesnt matter what Anelka said 2 months ago, his goals won Arsenal the double and made them 21m profit.  No matter which way you look at that, that could never be a bad signing. More like one of the best signings in history.

how can anelkea be a bad signing ?????

  • signed for 500k sold for 23m
  • score 23goals in 60 odd app
  • never been same player since the move

so i would personally class this in wenger top 5 deals
