Official Joe 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Hi,Just wanted to gauge reaction based on a hypothetical situation. Supposing you were a season ticket holder yet fancied emigrating to a foreign country in which it was not practically viable to return for every home game, ie Oz or the States. Would the fact of missing every home game stop you emigrating?I say hypothetical but I do fancy emigrating/retiring abroad one day and after family ties I guess not going to Carrow Road every other week would be the next thing I would miss, but is it enough to stop me going?I guess it would depend a little on performance/atmosphere but that said I follow NC regardless of both... SnakepitCanary 0 Posted June 24, 2008 It defiently would play a massive part, aswell as family. I''ve actually thought about it before, even though I''m only 17. I don''t think I could do it yet, maybe when I get into retirement years I would consider it, but NCFC plays a massive part of my life and I really don''t think I could stop coming to Carrow Road, even after these past terrible seasons! BigGreenStoppingMachine 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Don''t get me wrong, i love Norwich City Football Club and the city intself. There is, however, no way that i would turn down the oppertunity to go and live abroad because of them. I have been lucky enough to travel well in my younger years having lived in Austria, Greece and Spain for long periods as well as backpacking around Oz and NZ. I would urge anyone to do the same as i did and see as much of the world as you possibly can. There are bigger things in this world than our beloved football team
Thecanaryfan 0 Posted June 24, 2008 The Canaries mean the world to me. Though seeing the world is much more important. I have infact just landed a new job in Washington DC. Move out there in September. I think if Norwich start getting the results I will be gutted. However if the results remain as they have been for the last three seasons I will actually be quite relieved. I will def make an effort to get to at least 3/4 games a season. Syteanric 1 Posted June 24, 2008 no.. never! Much as i like to Travel.. i would only do that off season...I will only take a job under the provision i do not miss a home game, either on a Saturday or Midweek, i will not arrange any commitment around football... sad as it may be it does rule my lifejas :)
AndyJR 0 Posted June 24, 2008 I''m with Jas, can''t be dealing with missing Carra Rud; the Grass will never be greener on the other side. Life without the field of dreams would be like a broken pencil; pointless.

Rum Ol Boy 0 Posted June 24, 2008 I''m a huge fan but honestly, I would never put a sport in front of emmigrating or getting a better life
Jimbo_Jet_Set 0 Posted June 24, 2008 I''ve not emigrated, but I have spent the last 10 months living in Perth, Western Australia and I have to say that one of the few things i truely miss about home is saturday afternoons watching City struggle towards another win! You can never fully replace the passion you feel for your home town club i suppose. However, you do learn to cope (admittedly the sun, beer and beaches over here help to ease the pain). I reckon its a bit like giving up smoking- a bit of willpower and the knowledge that city aren''t doing so well kind of gets you through. That said I''d have been gutted to miss a promotion season and if we had reached the play-off final I would seriously have considered shelling out £1000 to fly home to watch itIt would be easier if we were in the Premiership because you get wall to wall coverage of that. Being in the champ its easier to find a modest aussie than norwich highlights, so i rely on Canaries world. Plus i''ve got in to Aussie Rules (fantastic game) which helps to fill the gap.So i''d miss it for sure, but nah it wouldn''t stop me emigrating. Even though i still haven''t reached the point of not renewing my season ticket![*-)]
Barclay_Boy 0 Posted June 24, 2008 I lived in Perth, W.A. as a kid, much as I love NCFC and British music, the chance to get back there would be just too good to miss. The Aussies know how to run a country, sadly we seem to have forgotten.
NegativeVibes 0 Posted June 24, 2008 At least if I stay in Europe when I might emigrate in a few years I will be watching Peter Cullum''s City play in the UEFA Cup.Pinch me

Light beer admittedly, but its the thought that counts.
CanaryRyan 0 Posted June 24, 2008 The thought of me going to university somewhere else in england is putting me off at the minute because of my fliipin love for NCFC lol
Houston Canary 0 Posted June 24, 2008 I would not emigrate because of NCFC. My job is here, my family and home and life are all here, so I think it would be rather petty to emigrate from Texas to Norfolk just because of NCFC. If you can set me up with a house and job, I would give it serious consideration, though.
newyorkcanary 14 Posted June 24, 2008 We have great Supporters Club here in NYC. A nice home-bar, with a Iwan Roberts kit on the wall, along with other signed memorabilia. Can''t replace going to each game, but we do have fellow Canaries supporters to commiserate with. We actually have a "meeting" over beers this Thursday at 6pm if anyone is interested and in the neighborhood. George Keeley''s on 84th and Amsterdam.I have Jets season tickets, and while I adore going to those games and tailgating the morning/afternoon away, I could give it up if I had to.... Fuglestad 0 Posted June 24, 2008 I have been a season ticket holder since 1992, but flew out to New Zealand on April 9th so missed the last couple of home games. I''m not planning on coming back to England anytime soon, my return ticket isn''t till February but I have still renewed my season ticket. If work and relationship goes well, I will probably stay in New Zealand or move up to Australia. I missed going away to uni, by staying and going to UEA to watch City, and I''m not going to let it happen again. I imagine soon, clubs will be able to stream matches online which will help. Though I miss Carrow Road, I certainly don''t miss England, I know it''s a trendy attitude to have at the moment but England is cr*p and getting worse. Also Neil Emblem is apparently playing out here somewhere, so I may invest my time in stalking largely irrelevent former city players.
