Now, it remains to be seen if the Canaries can stump up enough cash...

...to match the Town offer or maybe persuade Toon boss Kevin Keegan to allow the frontman to come to Norfolk on a season-long loan. Either way, Amoebi looks certain to leave St James'' Park this summer after his impending marriage, having played 210 games and scored 46 goals for the Magpies - 12 of them coming when Roeder was his manager in the north east for 15 months.

Priceless.... [:D]

So let me get this right Pink Un Journo''s....

Newcastle are going to turn down £2.5million plus possible add on''s to give away a player on a season long loan deal, wehn that said player only has a year on his current contract to run???

I have heard of charity, but don''t you think that is pushing things a little too far???

You have obviously had your orders from Carrow Road to come up with something to settle discontent rising up amonst the fans.... but this is just hilarious!!!! [:D]

Who knows? Ipswich have not made an official bid for him.  They made an inquiry as to price a fortnight ago but have never followed it up.  His agent says one problem with Ipswich is that they apparently have a £10,000 a week salary cap.  Ameobi is on at least double that at the moment.  So if no one comes up with the sort of money Newcastle are demanding they might be forced to send him out on loan and at least get some of his wages paid?  He''s in contract for another year so they can''t dump him if they can''t sell him.

Thought exactly the same thing Smudge. It really is becomming a joke. If it is true what they are saying Ameobi will not be coming to Carrow Road any time soon. To print such a pathetic story is only going to cause more unwanted blind speculation on this message board. Ameobi is going to Ipswich for hard currency, not to Norwich because of past partnerships. End of.

Newcastle United say there is no official bid for Ameobi from ANY club.  Ipswich may make one but at the moment they have not.

[/quote]Well if he''s after more than £10k a week, loan or not if he came here it would make an abject joke of this Club unloading all the Prem level wage players at the earliest opportunity when we were relegated. Either we do pay big or we don''t, to suddenly start do so now means we were wrong to drop the big earners of the last few years and admittance from Board level that big wages and/or transfer fees do go hand in hand with ambition.

Surely it is up to Ameobi who he wants to sign for, not Newcastle? If he would rather come to us on loan then it is up to us and Newcastle to come to an agreement for this to happen.

The only way he would come to us on a season loan is if we agreed to some sort of purchase on performances transfer at the end of it. We would have to practically buy him. That means we would have to match whatever others clubs are willing to pay which rules us out. His contract is up at the end of next season. Why would Newcastle pass a potential £4m income to send him to Norwich on loan for a season and then let him leave on a free? It would be insane. Ameobi may very well want to link back up with Roeder and Clarke but sadly the circumstances make this practically impossible.

It would - if any bids had indeed been made.  But as other posters have been trying to tell you, no bids have yet been made, just a bunch of agent-led BS and paper talk.

I think there are more factors to this than first meets the eye.If he is truly after 20k a week plus he wont be getting it from very many teams in the championship - and like his agent says there is no guarantee that this will get him the success that he craves. Then there is the factor of Newcastle themselves - it is a reletively well known fact that they are trying to cut back on some of the players wages. One  - Barton is in prison on £60k+ a week and apparently their owner wants to cut back on the number of £60k+ players they have at the club. I should imagine that getting rid of a £20k+ reserve team player would also be a good choice for them.I think the Ipswich rumour is an artificial inflamatory of sorts. By this I mean I think it is false news injected into an otherwise silent market to which to bait fans and clubs alike. In the first instance people know Tahn have money because they were ever so cleva and told everyone (great idea). Dangle a tempting offer in front of their face and at the same time let others know that a player is available for the right price. In Norwich and Ipswich you have two rival teams that would like nothing better than get one over the other. By mentioning Ipswich - the Norwich fans will clamour for a player that their manager already rates and has been "linked" to in the recent past.My opinion is that this has been orchastrated and the best thing to do is ignore it. If he comes to Norwich then great - otherwise I don''t care and he is as good as the enemy come match day!

At the price being quoted I''m not surprised.  Even if I was running our club I wouldn''t part with that much for him.

Read the Stoke forums, they are just happy they are not getting him.

I understand that no bids have been made, I never said one had to be fair........my point is that people are sceculating that he will come on a season long loan when that would in effect leave Newcastle out of pocket!! The loan wont happen purely for this reason. Besides, Norwich cant sign him permanantly anyway because he is wage demands. It is an unrealistic story designed to create pointless debate.

Newcastle needn''t be out of pocket - Stoke paid £500,000 to get him on loan which effectively paid Ameobi''s wages.  If they can''t sell him they will be stuck with paying his wages for another 12 months whereas sending him out on loan will collect yet more money for the club.

Totally agree, it''s a storm in an tea-cup.  Regarding their potential income though - I very much doubt that this player is now worth 4 million, even in the current inflationary climate for strikers.  As has been said, his worth is probably 2 million tops.  If Ameobi wants to play for a Championship team, he''ll have to expect a wage cut too.  Only Charlton get close to 20k a week in this league I''d venture.  With a 1 goal every 6 games average, he is going to have to prove himself capable.

Its the Oinkun and there famous writing. Sometimes there articles are a bit ropey and only them have mentioned about the loan. If it true, I do agree with Smidge that NUFC would not be willing or stupid enough to let him out on loan. But as Camil said, Stoke nearly paid for his wages and if we sign him on loan with a view to getting him at the end. Like I have said before, get him cheap and add incensitives for promotion and goals etc.

How is it Agent led BS blahblahblah?

I thought he was the guy who has set the record straight following stories in the press?

All that he has apparently said though is "that if Newcastle have received an offer, then he knows nothing about it"

Does a club or a players have to let their agent know as soon as a bid is made for a player?

I wouldn''t of thought so, would you???

I would imagine that the agent would get the inside story of his client and if a club wanted more money, he would get told so that the agent can go off and try and get more clubs interested. Don''t know, just my thoughts. Bloody agents, Mr 10%''s.

Smudger why would a player not tell his agent about a bid made, seeing as he is the man employed by the player to get as good a deal as possible!

This is all just a load of BS started by someone, most probably the agent, because he knows he needs Ameobi to be mentioned in the papers so as many clubs think about signing him as possible. Standard stuff for agents I would say.
