No suprise - we were told by Brady to pay £1 million and that she would

not change her mind.  We kept offering 250k less so they kept him, only

have ourselves to blame.
Still p**sed off about that, not like we''d gone bankrupt by spending that & instead we spent 500k on Pattison!!!

And with the likes of Qpr and Ipswich after Gorkss that has to be a real long shot too , Roeder may just have to get on his knees and beg the Doc to sign a new contract.

I am hoping that we have already signed Gorkss but not announced it yet, because their are 4 other teams now reported to be after him including the scum.

We did offer £1 million, but they rejcted it because during the negotiations they got injuries and didn''t sign anyone.

Forgive if I''m wrong, but doesn''t this report say that he ''could'' keep Taylor, not that he definitely will. I still think it is unlikely we''ll get him, but this article doesn''t confirm anything...
It was weeks down the line when we finally realised Brady wasn''t going to take any less than the million.  If in the first 2 weeks we had just paid he would be ours.  We delayed and delayed and finally as you say, they got injuries and decided to keep him.

The situation with Taylor was one thing that left me in complete shock last season, we should have payed the million straight away, without question the worst mistake the club made in a long time!

But we were trying to be that little bit cleverer than everybody else .

Go away binner.

We never got Taylor because of Doncasters low bid, slow bid  policy. First one is always too low and the next too late.

I''ve just pressed the spell checker (see thread about Edit Button), and there is smoke pouring out of my CPU.
In between actually doing some work, some people don''t have time to spell check and would rather just get their message across.  Also it would appear there''s little point of using a spell checker seeing you take so much joy in correcting people.  Enjoy.

Perhaps it''s Brum''s way of saying that if anyone wants him, they are going to have to pay a decent fee and he won''t be leaving on the cheap. Coincidently, when clubs mention a player randomly in the media then they are actually looking to put him in the "shop-window".

From the Birmingham Mail (paper edition) June 5th 2008 p79 if you''ve got a copy.

I quote verbatim.

"Jaidi, Liam Ridgewell and Martin Taylor - on whom Norwich City remain keen-are Blues'' senior central defensive options now Rafael Schmitz has returned to Lille after a season-long loan.

Now I really like the bit between the hyphens.

If we had of increased our offer of £750k to the £1m Birmingham were asking he would be our player now, once again refusing to splash the cash has lost us a good player in my opinion.

Too true, we dillied and dallied around. I still don''t know if it was GR or ND who were slow or refused to pay the asking price. If I can recall, didn''t we finally meet the asking price, but Brum pushed the price up.

Still, if it was either GR or ND, then we should have just paid them and we would have reaped the rewards from him signing.
We did eventually offer the full 1 million but this was 3 weeks too late, when Brum got a few injuries and decided to up the price.  The gauling thing is that Brady made it quite clear the asking price was 1mil, not 750k not 950k, had we just paid he would be in our squad, but typically, we miss out.

This is just a "ploy" by Birmingham to say to everyone that we will use Taylor if we don''t get a reasonable offer for him. In other words his price is still the same and you are not going to get him on the cheap!

No one actually knows, of course, whether Martin Taylor *is* damaged goods because of the Eduardo incident - that will surely only be discovered if/when he starts playing regularly again.

If it turns out that he is I cannot see the valuation holding.  Whether at Birmingham or elsewhere we all know that he will also have away fans to contend with throughout the season.  How tough he is none of us quite know.

I think there is a distinct risk element now with MT that was not present, of course, before the Eduardo matter.
