Rasiak on his way?

Recommended Posts

So Rasiak, is he the big man with good feet that we so badly need? Could he complement Curo and get him back amongst the goals next season? To me he''s kind of a poor mans Berbatov, or perhaps a john the baptist who paved the way for the messiah. Does he work hard? well he''s Polish so his work ethic should be above the average brit and well above the average spaniard. Is he a bit slow? or does he have a kind of Chris Waddle waddle about him? I''ve certainly seen him take a few defenders on with those nifty feet, remember that goal for Derby. Can we afford him and his wages (£14,000 at present :-o) or should we be spreading our money around? we need to bing in practically a new team and someone needs to tell Glen he can''t play 11 loanees, however much he''d like to. Good luck Glen, I think Rasiak would be a good buy but only if the money is right! What do you think folks? Here''s a little bit of him in action, great song, so make sure your speakers are on. I''m thinking he''s not quite international standard but make your own minds up...not bad:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W7R_KcfGBEoh dear:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2641032525617189763

See Rasiak is a difficult one to call. I have watched him carthorse about for years in Polish National team. he is useless at that level, but you can''t argue with 1 in 2 for So''ton. If you are looking to Poland for strikers, we have a lot better than Rasiak available at a fraction of the cost. Rasiak can''t get near the national team, not even in the squad. These 2 are ones that are realistic and would add something to the squad.Zahorski - Young (23) - 6''2, still playing in Poland so available for around half a mill i should think - in National team squad, fairly quick for a big man, very good prospect, very highly rated.Matusiak - Back in Poland after fairly unsuccessful spells abroad, first in Spain, then Holland i think. however, is now firing on all cylinders - forced his way into NT squad for Euro''s - will probably be in starting XI replacing Zurawski. would be cheap, he''s 26. has 6 goals in 14 caps at international level.Another is Radoslaw Majewski an attacking midfielder who is currently playing in the Polish league. Papers have linked Blackburn and another Prem club, but could well be paper talk. if we could get him, then we''d need to tie it up asap as he has a good chance of getting a game at the Euros and his value would rocket. i haven''t seen much of him, but he has a very good reputation and is highly rated by coaches and the fans think he could be the next "big one". he is only 21, and again probably available for a mill or under.

Bury St Edmunds Tescos and Ipswich Asda have Polish sections of food. Do any of the Norwich stores? [:D]

Yes, Ween Nasty they do, there are plenty of items which have a Polish flavour in Morrisons and there is an independent shop on Hall Road. I am sure there are other examples, they are just the ones I know about.
i really dont rate rasiak. he has skill, i wont deny that but the way he applies himself and his attitude is all wrong and i dont think he would be an acquisition.
Completely agree, think he did his best work several years ago now, before he first left southampton, personally think he is too slow, and JC isnt the quickest, and I would like to see a team with more mobility to be honest.

now these are of tomasz frankowski who played for wolves in his poland days

now he was top scorer in englands group for qualifing and scored 25goals for spanish liga b team elche (equivelent of championship)

now he come to us and scored 0 in 17games

i personally dont think polish players suit english leagues, not just him but all polish players, really we only had 2 polish players who made any sort of impression in rasiak (who champ at best) and dudek (whos keeper)

maybe just my thought and one of the guys above maybe worth a punt, but if im taking a risk id prefer take on player like dickinson at stockport or vokes at bournemouth than some over paid polish striker or an untested player in english leagues
Frankowski was 30/31 when he signed for you. Younger players adapt more easily. Frankowski was a great player, and had a nightmare when he signed for you. Saganowski did the business for a bit at So''ton but seems to have gone off the boil. Frankowski also signed for you when there wasn''t such a huge polish community in England, where he didn''t have a specialist polish deli or grocers in every town, and from what i know, he wasn''t particularly fluent in English. Most of the Polish kids coming thru now, have decent English as education has improved significantly over there in the last 15years, and most Poles now speak at least a basic level of English.Poland have good young players coming through. Someone in England will exploit this - If it''s not us it will be someone else. Kuszczak made an impression enough to get a move to Man Utd after performing at WBA - Wenger has signed Fabianski as Arsenal''s number 2 keeper - maybe num1 next year.

and how many Polish players have you seen in English leagues btw? its only really keepers that have been here, plus Rasiak and Saganowski who both did well for a season and faded - and Frankowski who failed to do anything. Zurawski was a great signing for Celtic - so players can adapt to the lifestyle ( i know the league is a bit diff).

It has nothing to do with polish players, they are actually very adaptable. Its all to do with the style of football, Rasiak is a good player and has proven it, Tottenham didn''t pay good money for him for nothing!

like the style of Matusiak! But then again someone obviously liked the look of Strihavka. Which league is strongest, Polish or Czech?

I''d have Rasiak in a heart beat. Proven Championship quality strikers like him are hard to come by, and I think he''ll score for any team.

but Huckerby isn''t a centre forward. we need someone who can hold the ball up, link play and be a threat in the air, in short we need to replace DD.

And you heard it here first - Hucks is a Waitrose man.Everyone knows that we have enough of them around with Drury and the fairy godmother Delia. We defenitely need an Asda or Tesco man to even things out - maybe even a cash and carry?

My mates who are Saints fans would get rid of Rasiak in a heart beat. I think we need better players than him to seriously mount a challenge this season. I think he''d work well as an impact player off the bench (like a poor man''s crouch), but for his wages he needs to be a regular starter.

I would not be happy if Rasiak came to Norwich!!As my name suggests I live in Southampton and I''ve watched Rasiak play a lot.  Now i would not argue that he knows where the back of the net is but trust me when I say that he is one of the most lazy players I ever watched.  If you don''t put the ball straight to his head or feet, don''t expect him to run and try and get the ball.  Its just not his game.  If he scores goals we will all be happy but if he doesn''t everyone will be on his back straight away because of his poor attitude.  He will cost inexcess of £1m and will be on over 10k a week which will not be good value for money

I doubt he will cost so much with Saints financial problems, they had to let him go on loan to sort out his wages.
A valid point but I wouldn''t be so sure that we will get him at a knock down price:1.  Southampton have always been very good and getting the maximum price for a player eg Walcott, Bale, Jones2.  Rupet Lowe is now back as Chairman with Micheal Wilde and I think they will bring some stability to the club finaically3.  Even if we get him on the cheap wages will still be high, he will still be lazy and he will still have a bad attitude
