Apparently the biggest sponsorship deal the club has signed which has to be good news.

Is it a matching of ambitions?    Aviva NCFC? [/quote]

Let''s be positive: the deal should help Aviva with some PR as they prepare to ditch the NU name but it is good news for the club given our rocky season. What''s more Aviva already has the green and yellow in its logo - we could be made for each other. A good song to link the two and we could become permanently linked...both Evans and Lappin must come back: Evansaviva! Lappinaviva ! Aviva City!

terrible blinky, just terrible!!

It''s only 30 years too bloody late though.  If they had invested in the club in the 70''s when shirt sponsorship first got going we could be one of the top 4 now.  It is shocking that it has taken so long, and it is doubly shocking it is only a PR puff to cover the removal of the Norwich Union name.  Watch 7,000 become 700!

And it still won''t mean I''ll get me car insurance from them, which I stopped when they invested in the Binners last year!

Same here, cancelled my car, buildings and contents insurance when they saved them down the road and they won''t get me back as a customer.

I can''t believe people are so upset by Aviva''s actions, it''s what happens in business. If we''d gone into administration and had a loan from any bank they''d have agreed a similar payment scheme. For Aviva it was take what you could get, something is better than nothing.

This is all part of the plan to take Aviva/NU out of Norwich.  It''s nothing more than cover.Today they announce the name change from Norwich Union to Aviva.  "Of course we are still commited to the area," the faceless drone will say.  "Why, we''re sponsoring the football team!"Yes.  And dropping "Norwich" from your name... closing Pinebanks... shipping jobs abroad..."But we''re still sponsoring the football team!" the faceless drone will say next year, and the year after, as jobs leak away and premises are emptied to make Norwich a city of empty, hideous skyscrapers. And, by the time the sponsorship deal ends, tumbleweeds blow around the city centre and several QD and Primark stores stand where NU offices once stood, everyone has forgetten Aviva was ever known as Norwich Union.  Aviva then refuse the option to renew their deal and off they go.  Genius.

No, it''s not, its the biggest private sector employer in the county I think they said. The biggest employer in the county is actually the NHS (my employers).

Mister Chops

You are absolutely spot on. Sad but true in your words. Sadder will be that it will work. Tomorrows EDP headlines will be interesting. Will they denounce the name change on the front page and start a petition a la the Post Offices , or will they, in fear of losing ad revenue, trumpet the sponsorship deal and hide the name change on page 7?

Sad days indeed.

Hey! 2 can play at that game. How does ''Aviva - a fine City'' sound?

Or how about we fill the old NU buildings with casinos and sing ''Aviva Las Vegas''

:)

Exactly what I was thinking!

I remember reading a thread not so long ago, most people were quick then to get on Norwich Union''s back. Some people saying they even had to work for them! Now everyones happy now they are our sponsor..

This is a bit over the top, surely?! Although expensive, you won''t get better cover elsewhere! And that whole ''NU save Ipswich'' thing was completely blown out of the water. They''re a multi-million pound global business, why should they care what a few people in Norwich think?!!

The old Viva didn''t really have much choice in taking a few pence in the pound from Marcus Evans. The club was skint, had they and Barclays (another company with its roots in Norfolk) pulled the plug, they would have got nothing from KPMG.

Not really, saved myself £75 when I moved it all and cover is like for like. [:D]

For those who are on about NU moving everything away from the City, are you aware of the massive datacentre that they are building up near Makro?
