Jarroldstander 0 Posted April 30, 2008 Unless i was dreaming i''m sure i heard on the radio this morning that Martin has been banned from ALL pubs in Beccles due to bad behaviour? This won''t go down well with Glenn! The club has refused to comment.
ca 1 Posted April 30, 2008 Yes I heard that too on Radio Broadland today but to clarify one of the pub owners did explain that if someone is banned from one pub in Beccles any other pubs/clubs who are in their association, automatically ban them too.Guess that explains why he hasn''t been picked though, wonder what will happen to him though as he signed a new 3 year deal last year didn''t he and if we cancel it we will have to pay him up for the remaining 2 years?? Carlos Valderrama 0 Posted April 30, 2008 Just turned into a big headed, loutish little sod then. Thats what happens when not very bright people all of a sudden start getting big money. Everton kept Wayne Rooney on £75 a week for ages, then back dated his pay I am led to believe. We should have done exactly the same with Chris Martin.I am not normally one to criticise but surely the man management of the lad could have been a bit better. There was all sorts of moaning on here when we released Danny Crow, then that sky 1 documentary on Peterborough showed what he is really like. If we back dated his pay would he just get up and go somewhere else?

The boy has great talent - we all know that and 12 months or so ago we all saw it with our own eyes. He had been given the chance that Danny Crow hadn''t and (initially) seemed to grab it only for something to happen inside his head last summer and he has not been the same since. It''s almost certainly the cancer of ''money'' that is to blame coupled with his inability to handle it and the lack of man management. I wonder how much he is getting paid? A few thousand per week for sure. If you recall there was a lot of posturing before the contrcat was signed. You would have thought that his parents are devastated that he (from what we hear) is throwing away such a golden opportunity. How much have they tried to rein him in I wonder??
Grando 336 Posted April 30, 2008 Wow, these footballers really know how to party in style. Getting barred (allegedly) from all the pubs in Beccles - that''s so rock and roll!
Desi Rascall 0 Posted April 30, 2008 being banned from beccles and not being selected could be unrelated though. It could have more to do with him being a lardy arsed waster.Hope he gets his act together this season or he can go join mcviegh at burnley for all i care. scott 0 Posted April 30, 2008 Shame after how promising he looked last season, but he has to realise that one good season doesn''t constitute a good pro football career! One more year, one more chance to prove himself!
AJ 1,358 Posted May 1, 2008 Doesn''t sound like Roeder rates him that much. We''ve heard talk about pretty much every youth player bar Martin recently!I think the kid should get his go, he''s done a lot for us when we needed him, and didn''t get a lookin this season. If he can score goals, and we need a goal scorer, sense is to at least give him a go!
gazzathegreat 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Good grief, I was brought up in Beccles and tried all I could to get banned when I was younger (and failed). Maybe I need some coaching from the young guy.To be fair to Beccles, it''s not a young person''s dream residence, just a typical market town. I would have thought someone with Martins'' money would have travelled to Norwich or even Yarmouth for socialising.
Stone 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Yeah, I live nearby and Beccles is a cr@p night out! Forget getting barred from a pub there- I''d like to find one with a few people in it first! C''mon though Gazzathegreat, Yarmouth can''t be a good idea - he''s more likely to end up spending the night in a crack-den than pub in that town!Maybe that''s part of the problem though - the small town mentallity. He''s a celeb in Beccles, the ''local boy done good'' and he''ll know that. No doubt he has a few ''hangers-on'' and mates that idolise him, probably p*ssing away half his NCFC salary for him! All those dozy little wannabe WAGS will be throwing themselves at him, the lad must think he''s well and truly made! In some respects it''s no suprise he''s turned into this supposed cocky w*nker type. If Martin is to ignite his career again I think he needs carefully man-managing and maybe even draggging out of Beccles and kept where the club can keep a close eye on him. He has the talent to be some player so it has to be in the clubs best interests to do that.
Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted May 1, 2008
The boy had great talent. nutty nigel 7,902 Posted May 1, 2008 This is assuming a Division Two Team or Non League team want him. I said months ago that I hope he gets another chance next season. A chance to come back from the summer fit and hungry, ready to prove himself and take his chance. He wouldn''t be the first youngster to take a wrong turn but get back on the right track before it''s too late.
Mello Yello 2,572 Posted May 1, 2008 I think the club should appoint Michael Carroll as Chrissie Boy''s official ''mentor''.....(and fitness coach).
i wouldn''t be suprised to see him get a start against wednesday to see him prove how badly he want''s it Nigel, just a feeling, given the fact he was on the bench mid-week, now that Dion has had his big send off, I feel its time for him to claim his place or make room for someone who wants it more. Whats most frustrating is that if ever a season existed when we needed a player to take the season by the scruff of the neck and make a name for himself, then this surely was it. We have seen what he is capable of when he broke into the first team, but then again david nielson looked like the real deal before he signed as well.Like i say i don''t think his fall out of grace has anything to do with his off field activities, you just have to look at the way the club rallied around Pattinson to realise that, and like you say some of our brightest stars, Sutton, Bellamy and Mills(!) have had their share of off field bad behaviour.
