DOES ROEDER HAVE AN ESCAPE CLAUSE?

Recommended Posts

When Glenn Roeder came in City were almost down and out and he must have wondered what he could do with someone else''s squad.

I bet he had a clause inserted in his contract which released him if City were relegated to League 1.

For me, Roeder''s  demeanor goes beyond just keeping his players calm and focussed, he knows, I bet he knows he doesn''t have to manage in League 1 with little money and a squad he has to largely replace and in such circumstances would have to do so on the cheap.

For us supporters, and a few truly loyal players there is no such way out and we had better take at least a point from today''s game.

Roeder still has no idea what budget he has or players he could afford, entice or retain and in my view he came here as a personal calculated gamble that he could get into the Premiership with a Club that has potential. However, I bet that gamble was tempered with a get out clause.

If we go down to me he has failed anyway so it would be good riddance, i know we had a good run, so on, but his remit is to keep us up so going down is failure, imo.

i hope so, because if he hasnt been able to keep us in this division with all the time hes had then he wont get us out of league 1.

I bloody hope so.

When we''re relegated.............he has failed big time, common sense dictates he should go, but when did common sense and our board go hand in hand?

For me Roeder has already failed but not yet catastrophically.

Any manager worth his salt would have got a good player reaction after Grant and GR did that and more, however, he then went into post impact mode and raised all the old questions about his managerial longevity - he got personal publicly with players when he claimed to be not of that ilk and he brought in inexperienced players and tinkered before we were safe and went into freefall.

If we stay up he gets the chance to prove himself for once and for all and he must surely have a big plan to have left so many player vacancies, hasn''t he? Fortune and time will tell.
