ron obvious 1,711 Posted April 21, 2008 In an attempt to find out where it all went wrong (again), I''ve just had a look at the league table. It''s bonkers.Bristol City (4th) have scored 50 goals, conceded 51Norwich have scored: 45 goals, conceded 55And it''s the same all the way down the league; I know it''s not perfect, but surely the correlation between goal difference & league position must be the weakest ever? Compare it to the Premiership, for example. It''s just all ridiculously close this year. Also I''ve been trying to square people''s opinions with less biased views on team performances. The conclusion I''ve come to suggests that, overall, the players are decent Championship level players - neither particularly good, nor particularly bad - & probably no worse than the team of 4 years ago. EXCEPT for that one magic player (& Francis). The one thing that would almost certainly have given mid-table security is a decent striker. The goals for column is distnctly worse than average. So I still say 2 or 3 good signings in the summer could see a transformation. But I''m an optimist. Well, at least until Saturday ......
