a1canary 0 Posted March 10, 2008 GR laid in to anyone (via Neil Adams) who suggested there was a problem between him and Huckerby, but if you ask me he gave people too many reasons to think there was a problem. Now the same thing''s happening with Cureton. Anyone from Newcastle will tell you the same thing happened with the more established names up there, and that he preferred to bring on the kids. Nothing wrong with that, but not at the expense of your experienced pros. How on earth can he keep not giving a clearly in form Cureton, with 3 goals in 3, a start in a goal shy team? Against Watford he gave his reasons re the size issue - which i didn''t buy, it''s not like Evans is a man mountain and he''s pretty lightweight too. At Coventry, well, we haven''t heard any reasons for that team selection but at least he realised it wasn''t working and changed it. He brings Cureton on into a clearly underperfroming team and he nearly snatches the most undeserved point we could hope for. Yet he still seems to lay the blame at Cureton''s door for the team not taking that point, eventhough he''s provided the only two chances of the game... “It was really frustrating - on a free kick that we work hard on in training - to get Jamie in with really a 14-yard penalty kick and I would have expected him to bury that. You can say Marshall made a good save - it''s an average save, he should have saved that. Jamie should have worked him harder on that opportunity. That was a free look at the goal 14 yards out.”If i was JC over the last few weeks, i would rightly be mightily peed off with Roeder at the moment.

A penalty kick that involves a wall, a host of players in the box, and a keeper who can move off his line.... so nothing like a penalty at all then Roeder eh?jas :)
Robert N. LiM 6,273 Posted March 10, 2008 I was really disappointed with that Roeder quote, shades of Grant''s personal criticism of players. First rule of football management - never publicly criticise individuals. But other than that, not sure you can criticise Roeder''s handling of Jamie. Keeping him on the bench seems to have brought the best out of him. And it''s undeniable that out of our three strikers, he offers by far the least outside the opposition''s penalty area. Not playing him at Watford made perfect sense to me. (The team selection at Coventry was just bizarre, and Roeder''s substitutions admitted as much.)
Huddy 0 Posted March 10, 2008 After his recent goals he certainly deserves his start tomorrow night. If it wasnt such large oppositioin i''d play him and Evans up top, but i think Roeder will certainly stick with Dublin. Dublins struggled a bit recently and does need a break. As for saturday, i dont think Roeder has a problem with Cureton in general, i think he just got the formation badly badly wrong, i dont think it was personal. Evans/Cureton have both done well recently and in games coming up it may be time to play them together.
Houston Canary 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Is it CURTAINS for Cureton, then? HAH!

Obviously if he goes and has a poor game you can come on here and point the finger at me, but that''s rather simplistic isn''t it? Anyway, rather than repeat myself again re Roeder and Cureton after last night, see my last post below:http://new.pinkun.com/cs/forums/1183563/ShowPost.aspx
Unlucky Fried Kitten 0 Posted March 12, 2008 I would be nice to see Cureton given 90 minutes in every match before we start judging him. The best strikers in the world struggle sometimes when they are expected to come off the bench and score. He proved he was a good striker last season at Col U, so obviously we are not getting the best out of him. The whole team is misfiring at the moment and so I don''t think it is fair to single out individuals for the blame.
FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Very harsh i think. How many goals has Saint Dion scored? Too many people think the sun shines from his **** but he''s been p!ss poor recently. How many goals would we have scored without Cureton? You haven''t got enough players Glen to start alienating those that will remain at the end of the season.Instead of looking for a new striker how about a new goalkeeper to replace the one who keeps letting soft goals in. How about giving Gilks a go?
BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Jamie''s more popular.Simple.Also Hucks.Unfortunately they appear to be waning - and Glenn has to deal with that. Not easy.OTBC
noz4lyf 0 Posted March 12, 2008 im sorry, even if he has the goals recently from what i saw last night and all season he''s been awful ! just we''ve had nothing else to bring instead of him ..

Green and Yellow 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Probably something to do with fact that Cureton is not capable of hitting a barn door with a banjo.
The Voice of the Thorpe Area 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Q: What is Roeder''s problem with Cureton?A: Perhaps it was something to do with the absolute sitter he missed last night? Or that he''s almost always offside. Or that he no longer pocesses any pace, or strength.Sorry, but I wasn''t too over the moon when we re-signed Jamie, one season wonder in my eyes. Sure, the guy''s heart is in the right place, but mine would be too, and you wouldn''t want me up front.
