I try to be a Brian Balanced or a Ralph Realistic and see what''s good and what''s bad as it is never either all of one or all of the other. At the moment its not good at all, a lot is down to legacy problems where we are still suffering the hangover from the protracted end of the Worthy era and the wrong turn with Grant. I think the Colchester game is almost our Cup Final- a bit of a cliche but if we win it could have a massive effect beyond the 3 points at stake. Lose it and I fear that we will be in very serious trouble going right to the final day. And our record over the last 15 years on big crunch days out is not exactly good...........I am actually pretty worried.

BUT........I''m not too sure on what premise he bases his optimism reported at the meeting last night.  The defence,though OK in the main has an alarming propensity to go AWOL at key moments and concede soft goals. The midfield looks short on confidence and all these red cards has led to a lot of tinkering. As for the strikers....well enough said.We are the lowest scorers in the Div. Even during the Dec/Jan revival we very rarely scored more than one per game.

 

I''d like to think we can beat Colchester,even one-nil would do.But I''m not confident we will. As for the other needed win. Who will THAT be against?  Any guesses.?

We COULD go down.  I think if we beat ColU at the weekend we will stay up, if we dont beat them, as we have some tough upcoming games, it could go down to the last game of the season against Sheff Wed.  If that is the case we will go down, but you have to remember there are three teams in between us and the bottom 3 and if one of them goes on a bad run and we win a few games we could be safe by some margin.

I personally cant stand these stupid groups that people get lumped into (Reminds me of the whole KTF/WO fiasco, each group just trading petty insults, Like tumbleweed I try to stay objective) Although if I had to pick one I know which id choose, the thought of gloating over us doing badly makes me sick.

I think we will survive based on my total confidence we will beat Colly. Coupled with the fact there are several teams we are competing with over relegation. I think Barnsley, with their massive distraction will be right in the mix. If we lose to Colly, well I still think we will survive, but it will be very tight.

I just cant see it going to the wire.  If we lose to Colchester yes we are in a bit of trouble, but if we win against Colchester that puts us on 49 points. Southampton V Coventry has draw written all over it, and Leicester/Seff Wed both have tough games.  Win on sat and results go our way and we are nearly home and dry.

Wings just a reminder we have won 1 in 8 thats bad whichever camp you are in, alot of the name calling is tongue in cheek at least by me it is but a few weeks ago the percy''s were predicting playoffs lol, when we tried to argue against we were slated as is the norm  binners, when in fact i am just a realist. We are not good enough, never will be under this board and i will be holding my lucky heather, four leaf clover and rabbits foot till the end of the season in hope we dont go down. then what happens next season, same old unless we have a board room clear out imo. If you look through this thread only Wiz says we will go down, thats his right and i know he wont get any pleasure saying it, so has he to lie to keep you happy. We are all city fans on here, just with  different views and ideas on the state of the club.

Just for the record - I think we will stay up. We have enough about us to get those points and it is totally in our hands. If you look at some of the other teams down there - they are not only relying on getting results but other teams getting or not getting them as well.And in response to Wiz who has blamed our board for everything including promotion - what a silly idea that was! I think a lot of this years predicament can be blamed on Roeders predesessor.How much money was he given to spend only not to spend it all? Be invested unwisely and as a result we had a torrid time of it to begin with. What ever you say about January Roeder got an unbeaten run of 13 games in with the current squad - the slip therefore has to be as much his fault as it is the boards for not getting in new players. The fact that we made bids of £1million for Taylor and close to that for Patterson suggests that they were willing to back him.Strihavka and Brown are the only two players I would have argued about at the time but considering that if Strihavka stayed he would have cost us something silly like £1.5million I can understand why Roeder let him go. As for Brown, the only thing he didn''t give us was goals, I feel sorry for the lad really but football is harsh.More recently our bad form has reflected the inforced changes to the squad with players injured or suspended. Bring out Doc and Russell for Saturday and things begin to look a bit more rugged.
