Breaking up Doc/Shack partnership?

Recommended Posts

I get the feeling GR is itching to do this and put Pearce in but i think he''d be taking a massive risk, especially if he also wants to put Valesco in as well. Then we''d have a back 4 who has never played together. Maybe bring Valesco on as sub if we''re doing ok. But the Leicester result might be what he was waiting for to give Pearce a go and as we''ve already seen with Gibbs and Henry, they''re not really ready yet for the rough and tumble of the Championship. Bates was that much older and it showed in his brief appearances. But if Roeder starts Valesco AND Pearce AND Spillane i fear we could be steam rollered.

We were discussing that in the ''''Team For Barnsley'''' thread and I agree with you, wouldnt be at all suprised to see Pearce at the back and Doc upfront which would be so wrong!

Oh, sorry, didn''t mean to duplicate, missed that thread. I''ve seen since that GR has said Valesco isn''t ready yet which i''m glad of. Nothing worse than a disastrous debut - can really knock a player. Agree Doc must stay put at the back - however uncultured, he is definitely much improved under GR and is now the preferable choice to Shackell if one of them has to be dropped. But then Shackell is much improved too since Roeder took the captaincy off his shoulders, so Pearce must wait in my view.

I quite fancy a 4-3-3 with croft, patty and bertrand in the middle and cureton chedders and hux up top. Might be a bit too adventurous for Glenn though, even at home. Hux has a good scoring record against Barnsley recently so i''m going to back him to score on his return!
nah - can''t see it after gibbs and henry displays.  the rot needs to be stopped, and roedy wants another win.
I dont know Henry but Gibbs is class - seen him twice and he really was incredible. He switched to the right for the Arse and was very effective, cut in a bit too much playing that side though. Not sure what went wrong the other day. Give him another couple of games.....

Ha! I guess that''s why i''m not the manager. I was certainly nervous about breaking up the centre backs but GR know''s best if Pearce is up to it and up to it he was. Respect and trust levels in our manager up another notch for me!

The Doc/Shack partnership has in the main been very good so it was unfortunate for Shacks that he head to make way for Pearce who I suppose Roeder ''had'' to play at some point as part of the loan deal!

Good job Pearce had a good game!
