Its just unfortunate that Eduardo''s

injury was awful. If he hadn''t have been injured so badly then people

wouldn''t be calling for this. Both players were very unlucky.
Exactly right. Taylor is going to be vilified for this for a long time

by Arsenal fans and people in general. I don''t think anyone has seen a

proper, close up motion replay of the tackle so all those saying he''s a

disgrace are basing it totally on the horrific damage done. There was

no intent, McLeish has come out and said Taylor was totally distraught

about what had happened. I have a lot sympathy on both sides, very unfortunate incident.

I will give you all a link to a picture of his leg as it happened, i warn you its bloody horrible, and by the looks of it it could end his career.

http://coolsmurf.wordpress.com/2008/02/23/eduardo-da-silva-suffers-career-threatening-injury/

As i said, be warned its not nice, you can see the bone split the sock open as it come out.

Take that off please mods.

why? hes warned everybody its not a nice picture so whoever reads it has the choice to see it or not. stop complaining.

anyway as for the tackle I watched the game and I don''t actually believe the tackle was as bad as people make out, ok studs showing but it was one footed you see tackles like that all the time just this one ended up worse.
Yeah, kids heed warnings dont they
I suppose kids can''t use google either then? And kids never watch violent movies do they? After all, they didn''t show the Alan Smith injury constantly for a week and pictures weren''t in the papers were they?(Note: Please regard each point i make with copious amounts of sarcasm)

Then that''s supposed to be the parents job to make sure they heed those warnings.
Lets not make more of this than it is, far worse happens every day on the news mate, a footballer suffered a broken leg, terrible as it was, in the grand scheme of things its nothing compared to whats happening in the world.Wasnt so long ago i saw on sky news a guy getting hacked to death with maschete, now thats bad, so dont compare a broken leg to real life please.

For god''s sake - talk about censorship control.  Things like this happen in football - people get injured.  The link is not about sensationalising the injury, but an opportunity to send well wishes.  This wasnt intentional, aggression fueled violence but an ill advised and and very bad mistimed tackle and happens up and down the country in games every week.  I do feel for the lad - he was just coming good and this is a huge setback.  I also feel for Taylor who I think is likely to be on the receiving end of some serious malicious abuse - Ive already heard talk of death threats (!)

Sounds like an awful challenge. Lets hope eduardo recovers fully and quickly.

I''m not condoning it one bit however, but it isnt a one off that tackle. You see alot of similar tackles unfortuantely in football today, and for Wenger to call for taylor to never play again is over the top. Taylor is not a malicious player, he''s been caught out by the skill of eduardo it seems, and i bet theres noone more distraught than Taylor himself. Wenger has a reputation for moaning, (and again im not condoning the tackle) but im sure whiles hes been at Arsenal he''s had players sent off for similar over the ball challenges. Patrick Viera anyone?

Get well soon eduardo

From what I watched on the TV it looked late and clumsy. At first I didn''t think eduardo was that hurt but then fabregas started shouting I realised something was wrong. It just seemed that eduardo beat taylor and taylor was just too slow to react and caught him awkwardly. I don''t think it was malicious, taylor looked really upset and horrified after the tackle and he never once did a bad tackle during his time here. I just think it was genereally a yellow tackle that came off really badly for everyone.(+ picture in link not working)

ive seen worse challenges than that but its very very sad..

Arsene Wenger confirmed on the radio after the Game that Eduardos shin is smashed, His Fibula is broken and his ankle his broken...

He''ll be lucky if he even walks again on that leg let alone plays football...

I think its fair to say this is career ending.. Definately wont ever play professionally again.... Lets hope that he gets his fitness up and recovers quickly... perhaps he might end up in the amateur leagues... make a go of it down there and enjoy non-league success...

we should all take a moment to think of Martin Taylor too.. theres no way he''d of meant it... he must feel sick

jas :)

My post got deleted containing pictures of the incident. If you want to see any pictures or video, google and youtube are your friend. After seeing a video on youtube, the tackle is not bad at all, it is a completely unlucky and unfortunate incident.Eduardo knocked the ball away but not before taylor had already slid in to win the ball. As eduardo knocks the ball away he moves closer to taylor whereby taylor''s foot ends up at ball hight on eduardo''s leg, rather than on the ball where it would have been if eduardo hadn''t have knocked it round him.

Ive just seen it myself, and its late and clumsy, but no worse than a lot of tackles you see each week, whats made it so bad is Eduardos leg is planted as contact is made, so theres no give, also the angle of contact is providing force onto the weakest part of the bone. Its horrible, and I hope Eduardo recovers, but Wengers comment is over the time, the only thing stopping me from calling him a prat is the fact that it was so soon after the game, if he sticks with his opinion about Martin Taylor after reflection, then I think he''l struggle to defend some of his own players if similar injuries occur to oppositions.

Now I think it is fairly obvious this was a very bad challenge from Taylor, badly mistimed but hard to believe it was intentional.

Wengers comments on Taylor never playing the game again is ridiculous.  Eboue''s red card last week looked far more intentional, yet Wenger quickly forgets this.

He thinks everyone is out to get Arsenal and his troops are squeeky clean.

Anyway more importantly lets hope Eduardo can recover quickly and fully.

Can you believe some of the prats on youtube are leaving comments saying "Martin should go to prison for assault". Seriously, what are these people on? Makes Arsene Whinger sound easy-going in comparison.

Yeah, Taylor should get a ban and perhaps a hefty fine, but Prison?! I mean really some people do let their mouths run independently of their brains in the heat of the moment.

Get well Eduardo.
He was no better than Doherty, don''t need him.
I do believe you''re sounding just alittle bit fickle there, Sam. Were it not for this incident today I bet you would''ve welcomed him here in january.

Totally agree, I used to have respect for him but his hypocrisy is just ridiculous. All the bad challenges by his own team which he fails to see and then he has perfect vision for the challenge today. He should be ashamed to have said that today, I am now cheering on Man U to win the title. Also, wasn''t Gallas an embarassment? acting like a spoilt child, and he is the captain, but Wenger doesn''t b*llock him, why?

We are all human beings, with emotions no matter if that''s happiness, sadness or anger.  I think it''s never best to speak publicly in the heat of the moment, but he witnessed a nasty tackle on one of his players which resulted in horrific injuries.  If I were in his position I would be seething too.

We have all seen Martin Taylor play, and I for one say he is not a dirty player, and having seen the fottage I think it was in no way intentional, it was right him getting sent off, and maybe having a hefty fine slapped on him, but a lifetime ban from playing, definately not.

A very unfortunate incident, but it happens in any sport, and whilst I know it could be career ending for young Eduardo I feel for Taylor who is obviously mortified at the injuries his tackle caused to another human being.
