First Love Never Dies

Once it was Chelsea; an innocent dalliance
In the days of Hudson, Hutch, Ossie and co.
And even United, a Bobby Charlton jigsaw
My pride and joy. Then it got more serious -
Leeds of the ''70s - hated by most but not by
Me. It was their kit, their style, their nous. Still,
They hold a charm, all these years long gone.

Bit like an affair, a dangerous flirtation that will
End in tears. But you always return to your first
Flame - the team of your home town. Their faults,
Their frustrations all too real. In my case, a fifties
Wonderclub fallen from grace; no more than a name
To you, maybe. But to me, they''re everything; once
England''s best - Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.

So now, I''ve confessed. It''s the Wolves I adore; nigh
On forty years, for better or worse. Ups and downs,
Times when faith was tested to the limit, and beyond..
But what else can you do ? It''s your life, your being,
Your obligation. Hopes raised, then dashed yet again.
But I keep on going - not so often these days, but the
Spark remains;  the allure is still there. Love endures.

yes, i forgot wolves got promoted before norwich (since you came down in 90s) then have been closer to promotion since we both been relegated from prem recently!

as to this season we both pretty equal momentum is with norwich which could be wiped away with one poor result and wolves got (had) points in hand which could also be topled in our next game
